WEDNESDAY 24 JANUARY 1968 24th day - 342 days to come
Played FOIL with BB, keeping score by their rules and by mine. There was not too much difference in final re- sults but I think mine are much superior. Will try it some more. The game is interesting.
Finished putting the games for the book (see 1/2) on index cards, including HAGGLE (III), THE "NO" GAME & DIRECTION.
Arthur called to confirm the date for Friday. Wald will join us here later in evening.
(cont. from 1/25) [1/26]
I played with him. There is a single path of about 30 spaces.
The first 8 are blank, then of the remaining ones some
are blank and some are marke "green poison", "blue poison", "red knife",
or "black knife".
The eight different colored markers are lined up one the first eight
spaces. Players then choose which marker they wish to survive
and the other seven, the order in which they want them elim-
inated.
Players in turn move any marker they wish. It is moved from its
position to the next empty space. If the marker moves onto either
a "poison" or "knife" space when the one of the other color is occuppied,
the one moving on is eliminated. Play until
Play until all the eliminations are done. Claude has to work out a
scoring system.
Claude brought me some material he bought for $5 which tells how to sell "syndicated" material to newspapers. He loaned it to me to reproduce. I offered to pay half but he refused.
I gave Claude $1 for the SHIFTY GEARS game he bought and that I had already.
Claude brought the book he took out of the library for me to see. It is $10 so I'll try to get it from our library. STRUCTURAL MODELS by Frank Harary Robert Z. Norman Dorwin Cartwright John Wiley & Sons - 1965. [started 1/26]
