Call from <u>Phil Orbanes</u>. | Call from <u>Phil Orbanes</u>. He wanted to come by today (since snow is
predicted for tomorrow) to drop off the frame (not the complete
<u>GAME</u>) that he wants me to use as a sample for
<u>THE RIGHT WORD</u>. But I have to go downtown. Arranged that I'd go
to his house on Sunday about 12:30. He also has the models of
the <u>SPECTACULARS</u>, which <u>Andrea Green</u> sent to him. Some are
too easy and others impossible and <u>Manny Lefkowitz</u>, Andrea says, is
losing interest. We'll go over them and see what we can do to get
them to work right. | |||
<br>Phil was at the <u>GAMES</u> office and spoke with <u>Ronnie Shushan</u>
(who I don't believe I met). They came up with one idea for an article
on "Games That Never Should Have Been." They came up with
<u>THE TINY TIM GAME</u>, <u>SHA-EE</u>, and <u>HAPPINESS</u> (the last 2 forced on
Ideal and MB by <u>Marvin Glass</u>) and would like about 3 more. Phil
thinks that I can find them in my collection and that we can work
together on the article. I hesitated over possibly offending P. but he
said that they mentioned <u>THE TINY TIME GAME</u> as a flop in their book
<br>90 YEARS OF FUN</u>. There is no hurry since it will be due 3/15/78 and the
earliest. Later looked and I don't have a complete <u>HAPPINESS</u>. Only parts from Xerox.
I mentioned <u>DIPLOMACY</u> for 2 but Phil said <u>THE RIGHT WORD</u> is much more possible.
<br>To S.P.I. Gave my column to <u>Brad Hessel</u>. He'd like the next one by 1/26/78.
<br>Spoke to <u>Redmund Simonsen</u>. He hears that Texas Instruments is coming
out with a computer in the spring and is waiting to see it.
<br><u>Sidney Ivgang</u> gave me an envelope of foreign stamps.
Took the following duplicates: 2 copies of <u>STARFORCE TRILOGY</u> (by
mistake instead <u>MIDDLE EARTH TRILOGY</u> and in subway the boxes were
damaged a little by the heat); boxed set of <u>SORCERER</u> - the hard board
(and half of the board was missing). 3 duplicate copies of <u>S&T</u> #66.
One of them had a Metagaming flyer (which I placed with my previous
copy); Announced are <u>RIVETS</u>, <u>WIZARD</u>, and an upgrading of
<u>THE SPACE GAMER</u>; Advertised are <u>STELLAR CONQUEST</u>, <u>GODSFIRE</u>, <u>OGRE</u>,
<u>MELEE</u>, <u>CHITIN: I</u>, <u>WARPWAR</u>, <u>THE YTHRI</u>, <u>MONSTERS! MONSTERS!</u>.
<br>Ran off 13 copies of my #66 column. Also ran off the rules for
<u>ANOTHER</u> and the rules and other material for <u>GUESS</u>.
<br>Spoke to <u>David Isby</u>. He showed me an ad for <u>TRIAL LAWYER</u> - told
him I had it and it wasn't great. Dave thought that <u>Richard Berg</u>
might be interested. Richard passed by and I told him that I'd
be glad to give him info if he gives me a call. Not too interested.
To Summit Stationery. Bought 6 "Jet-Pak" #4 bugs -
$1.08, and 1978 game diary - $3.35 (less 20% + tax).
To <u>Felicia</u>. When <u>Teddy Csantos</u> was here he wrote out a check
for her expenses and told her she had to go Toronto to see
"Mr. Gameways." She hates the cold but she'll go there a week
from tomorrow. | |||
<br>She said that someone might want to send her to the
"Nuremburg" Fair, and she refuses to go. I said that I would
go if someone would pay for it. She asked if I would be objective
in reporting on the games I saw - and then answered
