<br>14 Thursday - August 1975 | |||
<br>226th day - 139 days to come | |||
---- | |||
Rcd. a copy of the <u>KINGMAKER</u> rules from <u>Walter Luc Haas</u> (which I | |||
already have.) | |||
Rcd. a copy of <u>SCRABBLE PLAYERS NEWSPAPER</u> (vol. 3/no.4). | |||
<br>To <u>Mike Alber</u>. Got a copy of <u>GUINNESS GAME OF WORLD RECORDS</u>. Price is a- | |||
bout $600. I asked if he had heard from the columnist in Florida. No. | |||
<br>Richard Moon</u> is still writing regularly. He said that <u>Roger Verhulst</u> is | |||
still occasionally doing a piece on games. | |||
Took a copy of the 1975 <s>column</s> catalog. | |||
<br>To <u>Fabio Coen</u>. He gave me 2 copies of <u>BEYOND TIC TAC TOE</u> - outside of | |||
the 10 I get with the contract - and if I want more just ask, | |||
We also talked about my preparing a list of places to send copies | |||
for possible publicity. | |||
We discussed a follow up book to <u>BEYOND TIC TAC TOE</u> (which sold | |||
1700 last week bringing the total to almost 20,000). Told him my | |||
ideas of 7/27, but forgot to tell him the name <u>FUN FOR ONE</u>. Ex- | |||
panded the letter game idea to allow for the three letter words and | |||
four letter words. Fabio definitely would like to use color | |||
with most of the "games." He'd like the book for the fall | |||
of '76 which means I have to have it finished by March. Arranged | |||
to get together <s>in beginni</s> during November to discuss my pro- | |||
gress. | |||
<br>As a book for '77 he'd like to do something like <u>AGOG</u> but | |||
with more juvenile games and color used in the diagrams. | |||
After lunch in a Japanese restaurant, <u>Barbara Weinstein</u> joined | |||
us to discuss my Bloomingdale's talk. She'll check blowing up a | |||
board for <u>SPRINGER</u>. Also supplying crayons, cardboard, and | |||
game sheets for playing in the audience. She'll keep me posted. | |||
After we left Fabio she introduced me to <u>Francine Shillet</u> | |||
and to <u>Doris Bass</u> for just a moment. | |||
While with Fabio told him that I got the <u>AGOG</u> copyright back and | |||
that Scribner's is the house that might be interested. He thought | |||
that Random House had approached them - but he wasn't sure. | |||
<br>To S.P.I. <u>Howie Barasch</u> gave me a game that was sent to | |||
them - unsolicited. It is <u>SUMMER OLYMPICS</u> by "21st Century | |||
Sports." Very Cheesy for the money they ask. | |||
Asked <u>Redmund</u> if all of my last column would get in. Probably. | |||
<u>Omar DeWitt</u>. He has moved to Elizabeth, N.J. and is working in | |||
the school system. He is working at S.P.I. for the summer. He said | |||
hello. | |||
Reproduced the following to send to <u>John Gollon</u>: <u>GAMBIT</u>, <u>CROWN CHESS</u>, | |||
<u>CHESKERS</u>, <u>WOLF CHESS (WOLF-SCHACH)</u>, <u>FREISCHACH</u>, | |||
<u>CROMPTON'S CHESS</u>, <u>CHESSWORD</u>, <u>ANGEL CHESS</u>. Also address page of | |||
"Epoch" catalog for <u>Earl</u>. | |||
<br>To see <u>Phil Orbanes</u>. He gave me the material he had on | |||
<u>SPECTACULARS</u>. He wants 25% of what I make as a fee to | |||
"Gamut of Games." | |||
I asked about the Rand games. 1 is out in the new series and | |||
