2 SUNDAY * DECEMBER 1973
FIRST SUNDAY IN ADVENT * MONROE DOCTRINE DECLARED 1823 * 336TH DAY * 29 DAYS TO COME
At a bazaar in New Rochelle bought a duplicate copy of
THE JAMES BOND 007 GAME. Also bought a copy of DR. NIM (with
2 of the 15 marbles missing).
Saw a necklace made of paper clips with some kind of colored paper wrapped
around them - or possibly plastic. [Small diagram of a paper clip wrapped in paper or plastic]
It might be useful to do something like that for game pcs.
Finished the rules for space SPACE, TRICKY THREES, and RALLY
(originally LAPS). BB typed them after visiting the Horns.
With the Horns played SPACE - first 4-hand and then 3-hand with
with Susy playing while I watched, then 3-hand with Susy,
Dave, and me. Decided that the variation with variable scoring
won't work with players being able to place rods at will. Removed it
from the rules.
Bob Gellman called while I was out. Wants me to call him tomorrow
after 10.
(cont. from 12/3) [12/3]
Karen that I had made some terrific changes in 3D BOXES that
we'd like Stan to see.
Felicia called Kohler. They're supposed to call back.
Dropped in to see Mickie Mickie MacKay.
She brought up Ira Mothner; she was the one who told him about me.
She believes that his article will appear in the March '74 issue of
COSMOPOLITAIN.
He borrowed her copy of AGOG and didn't return it. I said
I'd give her another, but she said she'd get it back from him.
Actually she hasn't heard from him in some time.
Told Mickie about BOOK WORLD's folding.
She has been sending things to Roger Verhulst but hasn't heard
from him. I told her I'd check if he covered any M.B. games.
She told me that Richard Moon of the SAN JOSE TIMES has
been syndicated in 4 or 5 other small papers.
She told me that the LOS ANGELES TIMES has a column on games,
but one that goes into specific small areas, such as one column
on [Illegible crossed out] tennis sneakers.
She asked if I knew BACKGAMMON. Of course. Howard Bern, the
General Manager of Grossingers is interested in setting up a
clinic and tournament on the weekend of 3/15/74. The M.B. was
invited to supply the sets and Mickie is not sure whether they
will be doing that. In any case Bern wants to get someone to
run the event. He has checked with the big names and they
want in the neighborhood of $10,000 for a weekend. She will tell
him about me and have him call me if he is interested.
Mickie's assistant gave me a repro of an announcement of
a press preview of a charity BACKGAMMON affair, tomorrow
morning at 10. (Filed in M.B. folder.)
