Call from
Call from <u>Martin Gardner</u>. He was at an antique show in White<br>
Plains and saw the following games and wondered if I'd be interested: - <br>
<u>CHIVALRY</u> (for $16.00); <u>TELEGRAPH BOY</u> (board only for $10.00);<br>
<u>HALMA</u>, <u>STEEPLECHASE</u> (with large horses - for $45); several old<br>
German dissection puzzles - like <u>TANGRAMS</u> - for $10 each.<br>
Thanked him but said that I wasn't interested in any of these.<br>
Arranged to call him when he got home.<br>
Called Martin. He gave me the address of one of the dealers<br>
at the show who said he had other board games:<br>

He and Charlotte have been going to a lot of antiques shows<br>
and also have been traveling around visiting shops and also<br>
book stores. There is a very good one in Catskill, N.Y. where<br>
he picked up some rare children's games at bargain prices. He<br>
picked up a <u>HALMA</u> game, one of the originals, with a<br>
booklet of rules that included a number of problems based on<br>
minimum number of moves to get pcs. into final position. He'll<br>
