13 Friday - July 1973
194th Day - 171 Days to Come
Rcd. [received] a package with MINI-HEXCHECKERS and a letter from
Phil Robert Slenker. Mentioned HEXCHECKERS and that he'd
like another S&T catalog.
Called Earl Perel. He decided not to come with me when I go to Wald's. He'd like Al Richter to get going on DON'T BLOW A FUSE. He'll call me next week about getting together.
Rcd. a carton from Hoi Polloi with 12 each of VEGAS 13, CHINESECHEK, DAM-IT!, NINETACTOE, WORDPLAY.
Wrote to Keith Tuggle telling him that I could send him the
p & p games but checking whether he had found them himself.
Wrote Sally Williams, of Harper & Row, asking for a review
copy of SCARNE'S ENCYCLOPEDIA.
Wrote to Paul Eisland of "Synthetic Plastics Novelties, Inc"
ordering plastic chips. Enclosed check for $26.96.

one red die with one of the white to pick a space to claim.
At first the 3rd die was written in as a "payoff number"
but I found this cluttered the board and didn't ass to the
primary interest of the game. Phil agreed. "When 2 play"
after each round two dice were are thrown to pick
a space that is eliminated from the game. We thought
of, but didn't try, allowing the player who with the
lower score to throw three dice at the end of each
turn and pick a space to eliminate - to give him a handicap.
For getting a space next to one owned previously score
10 points; next to two - 25 points; three - 50 points; four -
100 points. Thinking of a penalty for an isolated space
at end of game but didn't resolve this.
At first Phil has a "pay off", somewhat similar to TAM-BIT,
for a throw of three dice that didn't allow a new space
to be taken. I suggested allowing choice of one of the
spaces determined by the dice and taking a space if
any empty, in line with it. (Took the sheet we played.)
-coMBIN
COMBINATIONS. He liked the game and the name.
END OF THE LINE (Phil's). Started a game but I found that
there was no room for either skill or judgement and we stopped.
(Took the sheet.) Basically two dice are thrown. One can be
chosen for a line and the other number of spaces marked
out on that line. Score for filling out a line evenly.
-11 RACES. Played and it held the interest completely. Thinking
of names and com came up with SPRINT.
-SUPERGHOSTS. Played just one word. He like it.
