14 Thursday - June 1973
American Flag Adopted 1777 - 165th Day - 200 Days to Come
To New York Hilton for 3M "Breakfast a la cart." With Jack Davis at game cart. He had a backgrounder on adult games, including pieces on inventor - with me first. Included our addresses and telephone numbers. This was given to each of the women - women's page editions presumably. One woman who is syndicated in several hundred papers, Jack said, seemed a little interested in me and told Jack to contact her about setting up an interview.
To Felicia's.
While she was finishing with Leonard Willett I looked at Dennis
Ladouceur's PRIME TIME. There are is a board with 2 continuous
tracks. On one players pick up TV programs of different
lengths - 1/2 hour, 1 hour, 1 1/2 hour, 2 hours - for varying
amount of money depending on the space landed on. The
other track allows a player to collect money in fees, and
some spaces with paying out of money. (According to the
rules the track could be chosen after throwing the dice, which
means a player can always avoid paying out money. I left a
note to Dennis about this.) As players take the programs
they put them on a program board which has room for from
7:30 to 11, 7 days a week. As soon as a player has completed
filled his board the buying of programs ceases. The programs
are all the same on their back but on the front they
give different "Nelson Ratings" - down to 1 for a "rerun."
Incidentally, they vary in length with the duration of the
program. Players secretly arrange their program board
placing the programs where this wish. Only one player will
be able to fill his entire board. After all are arranged
the days are compared. The player with the highest
"Nelson Rating" for a day leaves his programs on, the others
are removed (tie? - left note on this too). Most points left
wins. 2 to 4 can play.
Also looked briefly at his BUS STOP. It is the same as
CONTRACT except that the board has a somewhat different
shape. Object is to complete three bus lines. The outside
edges have street names (I believe) instead of city names.
VIEWLINE - the note from Burt Huber said it had too much luck
for their puzzle line. I said "How about sending it to Bob
Johnson." She answered that he had originally seen it when
Burt Huber did.
Later I dropped VIEWLINE and a children's item at Ed-U-Cards
at 200 5th for Felicia.
Miner is going into adult game Felicia said, but didn't
discuss showing anything to them.
Showed her DeLaney's letter on 3D BOXES. She called to have
me speak to him. In conference. She left word for him to
call me at home tomorrow.
We signed the 3M letters on VENTURE, MONAD, & SLEUTH.
She mailed one and we each too one.
