155th Day - 210 Days to Come
Call from Felicia. Some people are bringing another
"Watergate" game to her (later discovered that the name was
THE WATERGATE SCANDAL CAPER. Herb Roth would be interested in selling
it and she wants my opinion of the game. Appointment to look
at it this coming Thursday at 2:00 p.m. I'll bring SPECTRUM
with me. If I can't have the rules finished I'll bring the
model and then send the rules myself later.
Letter to Burt Huber. Included the solution layout for THE RIGHT
FITTING & PROPER and also two layouts for THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS
and two set ups for FITTING & PROPER. Mentioned HONORABLE RELATIONS.
Started a letter to Bob Johnson on HONORABLE RELATIONS.
Tried a game of HONORABLE RELATIONS with Dale. Starting
with a random placement of pieces according to one of
the puzzle sheets (the area used that is). Players in
turn switch two adjacent tiles, or in a straight line if
there are turned - over tiles between, and then choose one
to turn over. Score according to the adjacent tiles, including
those turned over. Score most for [arrow pointing both left and right] and score minus for
II. First switch must include the tile in a pre-determined corner.
After this the tile not turned over in a turn must be used
in the next switch. (It was dull and tedious.)
Tried some variations by myself but couldn't get anything
worthwhile.
Another call from Felicia. Letter from Schaper, signed by someone
other than Bill Garrity, saying that they were returning
FREE FORM, PUSHOVER, and PAIR OFF. They like the games but
think that there are too many strategy games on the market.
Rappaports says that the sales of games is the worst ever.
Call from Barney Rich. He had thought of using his game
DOZEN DIAMONDS for all different types of mathematical
operations, as a teaching device. He wanted my advice
on marketing it. I told him that since he had an in
with textbook publishers, that was his best avenue for
having it published.
He learned (how?) about AGOG and wants a copy. Told him
that Metropolitan Bookstore had it for $2.25.
Called Tom Atwater after 11 (and woke him). Told him about
how good HIT THE JACKPOT is and when is the latest I can
get it to him. Arranged that I would mail the package
Wednesday and then get the rules to him as soon as
possible. (When discussing the possibility of sending
the package first class he offered to get the buy the
chips, but I didn't want him spending the money. We
dropped the idea of first class.
