23 Wednesday - May 1973
143rd Day - 222 Days to Come
Call from Felicia to tell me that she'll talk to Karin Kole
herself.
2nd call in evening. She had a meeting with Hallmark (who?).
Now that the puzzle-game series is launched it is Burt
Huber's province and not Bob Johnson's who is in development
of new products. Bob will be setting up the other game
series.
The specifications for the puzzle-game series: - Board must
be 6" square. In general stay away from cards: if use - must be
52 of them. Not more than 32 pieces.
Told Felicia about HONORABLE RELATIONS and that I think it will
fit the specifications. I'll bring it tomorrow even tho it is
now out of Bob Johnson's hands.
They would like a puzzle-game for up to 4 players.
They took my TRAVELINE (after she gave it a big build up).
Also THE MONEY GAME (which previous has had the name
HIGH FINANCE and GOLD). She mentioned that they liked the
fact that it has individual strips instead of a board. (Probably
this is a change from the rough model I originally saw-
or was it that I heard about. I have a set of rules.). They
took Bradford Bailey's ROLLA DEAL POKER. They are interested in
ESPIONAGE (did they take it?). She forgot to show LOTTERY, but
we'll show it to Bob Johnson tomorrow.
The game line will have DUEL, FOCUS, and another of mine,
as well as several others.
Hallmark has about 11,000 outlets and 8,000 take the Springbok
puzzles.
At the stationery show she showed CHALLENGER IV to Kathy Brooks.
Kathy liked it and took it with her. She spoke to Les Martindale
of Waddingtons and he admitted they really weren't interested
in looking at games now.
In connection with her talk with Hallmark, she has decided to
ask for more money for holding the games of her other clients. If
I don't want to do it with mine she'll exempt them, but she
said that they had more respect for her when she said it. I told
her that she should certainly do what she thinks is best.
I mentioned that if they hold things too long someone else will
come up with the same things. She had brought that up and Bob
Johnson had said that my things are so original that there is no
danger.
She wants me to take WILD WOOD PILE and X-CHANGE WORD. They
have had it. She wants me to let her know if I place them
elsewhere.
Odette Willis left a GAME for me and Felicia had it in the office.
Someone named John MacNamara is coming to show her GAMEs
next Tuesday. He says he met me at R.G.I. (Later asked
Bob Gellman and learned that he was there yesterday when
I was there. He is doing the small sports games for R.G.I.
Call from Tom Atwater. He won't tell me the name of the
