53rd Day - 312 Days to Come

Got together my S&T columns and BOOK WORLDs in case I stopped at G&R.
To Mickie Mackay at her office at E.S. Lowe. Looked at A TOY IS BORN and the writeup on me was great. Down to 200 club to eat. Marvin Kaye joined us (Mickie's treat also). Mickie was a little worried about the male reaction to what was written about her, altho true. I should get my copy soon.
To A.H. [Avalon Hill] Tom Shaw will be there Monday morning. In same room they had ZILCH and he gave me a copy. He also said that the head for the game was in room 307. Went there and played part of a game. It will retail for $1.98. (Later discovered that it was very much like Parker's 5000 - which is not in the catalog.) Said I would review it.
To Kontrell (room 306). Took rules of 21 LETTERS and SHIFT. Didn't speak to anyone. // To G.A.F. Still the only game is KLOMP-IT.
To Parker. Said hello to Bill Dohrmann and to Frank Thibault who was there to see Bill. Looked at BILLIONAIRE. Another MG Game and very much like LANDSLIDE in play.
To Felicia. Brought her the R.G.I. folder and a copy of the biographical material I sent to Hallmark, which she asked for and BB typed last night.
She gave me copies of the pictures she rcd. [received] from Hallmark. As well as FITTING & PROPER, THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS and CUBITS, there are 2 other things. One looks like PENTOMINOS and the other I think is a puzzle/game that Alex Randolph once showed me of his. (Tried a little to locate it but couldn't.) PUZZLE/GAME. (see 5/21 - MOEBIES.)
One of Felicia's other client's, Dennis Ladouceur who I met once before was there with some of his things to show Bill Dohrmann.
Bill came and looked at the following: -
-WALK THE PLANK (Dennis L.). For Kids. Nothing special.
-MEATBALL (Dennis L.). Simply a question of propelling plastic "meatballs" into a dish in the center, using plastic spoons mounted at the end. No.
-STICKY PROBLEMS, MAKABRAKA CHAIN, GAME IN HAND - No.
-CONTRACT (Dennis L.) A quadrille board (about 10x10) has spaces in two colors. These represent tracts of land to be sold. Players buy the land and then pay to construct railroads in them by placing a tile, with one of a number of different configurations. Object is to be the first to connect two opposite sides of the board (different pairs for the two players). One player can use the other's tracks by buying a switching pc. [piece] to replace the tile already there. (Didn't get any more info.) Bill liked the play but doesn't think anyone is interested in railroads now.
-UPSTAGE- Not enough happens.
-HABITAT- Took with him. He'll give some kind of answer by Tuesday.
-THE BRAIN GAME- Likes the play and we can resubmit if I can come up with a catchy theme.
-FOREIGN INTRIGUE- They are looking at another game with the same theme. If that falls thru they may call for mine to look at.
-TORTS-THE GAME OF SUIT AND COUNTERSUIT: - Didn't want to look at.
-PSYCHOLOGICAL BLOCKS- Bill liked it and took it along.
Dennis asked if a game about TV programming would interest Bill? Yes. Dennis will bring PRIME TIME to Felicia Monday.
BILLIONAIRE came up in the conversation. Bill said that it had been
