14 Wednesday - February 1973 St. Valentine's Day - 45th Day - 320 Days to Come
Call from Felicia. She rcd. [received] pictures from Hallmark of 3 items: -
FITTING & PROPER, THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS, and CUBITS. There
are 3 other items in the first group, from other sources. DUEL
is not included.
Made a date for me to bring my stuff to her on 2/21, since I
won't have it ready for out date tomorrow.
She asked me about DOODLE BUILDER and I told her I had suggested
to George Bredehorn and Stan Chess that they get it to her.
2nd call. She called Jim Goldsberry to ask him about DUEL. He said they
still love it, and a set of 2-hand strategy games will be following
the original 6 items shortly. He doesn't want her to show the
pictures of the packaging to the inventors - they talk too much. He
said that all the inventors would be rich.
Felicia found a letter in the envelope with the pictures. It
included two sets of rules for her 3 games and the letter said
that comments should be sent to {Mr. Burt Huber
Springbok
A Division of Hallmark Cards, Inc.
P.O. Box 1556
Kansas City, Missouri 64141
She spoke to him to and he said
the games would sell for $6.95 and
shipping would start on 9/1. They
will show at the stationery show.
On the instruction sheets they intend to include short biographical
material on the inventors. We agreed that I'd prepare a
biography and bring it to her tomorrow, and pick up the rules
of FITTING & PROPER and THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS.
She rcd. a letter from D.D.I. They were returning everything
except WILD WOOD PILE and SIJJEH which they are considering for
possible introduction in 1974.
3rd call. Bob Gellman had promised to bring her the HOLIDAY box for
her to see, but never showed up. She thinks he is unreliable and
I should ask for an advance before working on PATTON, even if it is
only $100.
Made the box for HABITAT. Finished up PUSHOVER equipment (arrows
and color markings). Also prepared a sheet for recording set ups. Started
figuring how to pack the material in the box for THE BRAIN GAME
but didn't get very far.
After supper wrote the biographical material for Hallmark and
BB typed it.
Called Claude to tell him about Hallmark, and that I was disappointed about DUEL. Promised him that I'd play a full game (6 acts) of UPSTAGE tomorrow at Felicia's.
