28 Sunday - January 1973
Fourth Sunday after Epiphany - 28th Day - 337 Days to Come
In THE BRAIN GAME cut the bottoms of the trays so
that the cards could be removed more easily. Also cut down
the size of the company cards so that they would take less room.
Played THE BRAIN GAME with Dave Kornblum and Elliot. It
wasn't too difficult for Elliot. In fact he won with $210,000;
Dave had $206,000, and I had $202,000.
Still not satisfied with the ending. Thinking of going back to
the idea, once all the cards are out, of letting the player
buy any card he wishes for the total of the 3 dice, if there
is a double on any two dice. A player with less than 4 cards
cannot throw the dice. If only 1 player has 4 or more cards
he has 5 more throws of the dice. In this period of the
game trading is completely open to anyone. For instance, two
players with 2 cards each can agree to combine forces
so that they can take one turn.
In the earlier period, when a player has a forced trade,
as soon as any money or any card is exchanged either way
he is relieved of the responsibility. Also, he can't later
insist on his right to a forced trade.
Once a player begins to set up a company he can no longer
trade, that is if trading had been available.

Keith said that probably only Kathy Brooks will be coming in for
Stationery Show.
Before coming up, one of the salesmen said that NEO-CHESS had
been a complete flop.
A photographer for PLAYTHINGS came in and the salesman
who posed in front of the game rack held up EXECUTIVE DECISION.
A reporter from BETTER HOMES AND GARDNERS came in to ask
about adult games. Keith introduced me to her and she was quite
interested in my collection, etc. She took my name & address.
One of the salesmen said that NEO-CHESS was a flop.
When I came down Gini Scott was waiting (actually I came down at 5:15
and had to tell her I'd be an hour late). She asked if I'd mind if she
contacted Keith, since her games are not competitive with mine. I
told her I certainly wouldn't mind for myself, but Felicia's contacts
are her stock in trade. Gini said that she had been introduced to Keith
several years ago - so no problem.
Took Gini for supper at "Cedars of Lebanon (which she said is her favorite N.Y.)
She has made a sale of 4 games - 2 hers and 2 of her clients - to a
company she couldn't tell me the name.
When she was at Felicia's she spoke about my NINE OF SWORDS and
was surprised that Felicia didn't know about it. I explained a little.
Gini thought that her SCREWBALL might be something like
NINE OF SWORDS, but it doesn't interlock. Incidentally, in
SCREWBALL all the bolts are the same length.
