<u>Al Nofi</u> called, in answer to a note I left on his desk. I asked
him about <u>THE GUIDE TO SIMULATIONS/GAMES FOR EDUCATION AND
TRAINING</u>, which I noticed yesterday was a review copy.
He thinks it would be a good idea to review it in my column.
He'd like to look at it, but then I can keep it.
<br>It is much better than the previous edition. Among much,
much more, saw that it had <u>EXECUTIVE DECISION</u> and <u>SLEUTH</u>
(with my name), Buckminster Fuller's <u>WORLD GAME</u>, <u>FAMILY</u> (which
is cheap and looks interesting), and <u>PINK PEBBLES</u>.
Call from <u>Bob Gellman</u>. The one game they'd like done by Toy Fair
is <u>PATTON</u> since they have the art work. I asked if the deal
with Athol was signed yet. No. Now it is set for next week. I
said that I couldn't spend time until I knew it was definite since
I had too many other projects. He'll call me next week to let me
know the progress. I said that I'd do a little reading on Patton's life
prior to this to see if I felt I could come up with something. The
4 battles they mention in the copy are "Kasserine," "Cicily," "France,"
and "The Bulge." Actually these are campaigns. He called
Simulations before checking with me since he thought they might
have a game on the shelf.
Rcd. [received] the <u>BLOCK 'N SCORE</u> glossy (which unfortunately I don't
need since I already reviewed the game. Also included was
the <u>OCCASIONAL NEWSLETTER ABOUT SIMULATIONS AND GAMES</u> - (#15,
and last issue since it is being absorbed into the periodical
<u>SIMULATION/GAMING/NEWS</u>). The "Gambler's Bookclub" is mentioned
(see 12/23/72).
<br>Rcd. the estimated tax form from Leonard Willett. Then realized that
I hadn't included bank interest. Called him and I'll send $1200 instead.
Found I had the forms I rcd. last year.
Wrote to the <u>ACQUIRE</u> fan (see 1/6) and sent another copy
with a note to <u>Carol Peterson</u>.
Since 3M is interested in puzzles, thinking of redoing <u>HABITAT</u> with
as few as possible different pcs. [pieces] - possibly 3, colored red-
white- and blue. If I word from the top down it will probably
work out easier.
Called <u>Claude</u>. We'll go there tomorrow and test the three
games of <u>Howard Wexler</u>'s. Also I'd like to try the newest
version of <u>THE BRAIN GAME</u>. Claude has to have his report
in to Wexler Friday. He is getting $100 for the testing.
