Call from Felicia. She wonders if Dick Harris is going to Parker. She'll try to find out from Andrea Green.
At Rappaport's she saw that it was Ideal, M.B. [Milton Bradley], and P. [Parker(?)] - particularly PAYDAY - that moved. One customer specifically asked for EXECUTIVE DECISION and there weren't any. We must drive to A.H. [Avalon Hill(?)]to talk to them about their distribution.
Rcd. a gift of cheeses and jellies from Phil Orbanes - by mail.
Rcd. rules and a clear picture of the board and other equipt. for the game OLIGOPOLY. Also a rather formal letter from Robert Williamson, Gene Harmon's partner in the game.
Thinking that since PINBALL seems to be the most popular game in BEYOND SOLITAIRE, a book with 6 different types of "Pinball" games might be a hit. Possible name - BEYOND PINBALL.
Thinking of THE RIGHT WORD. To make it more competitive, a player can take away a letter from another player by passing thru the letter with his marker. This could be any letter the player taking it away wishes. To stop it from being too easy, a certain length of word could be req'd. Another possibility: the letter that a marker is on when the opponent passes thru is taken if the away if the player has it. Also if the moving player doesn't have it, he can claim that letter.
For scoring use a track with pegs - going around the "Red Letters". Bonuses, at ten points each, are entered behind on the same track, and must always stay behind. Probably best to leave the top "Red Letter" value at 25.
To save money on the scoring tracks, it might be better to limit game to 4 players. A player who didn't like his color could then have an option of changing to one of those unsused.
Thinking about 3-hand PEACE CONFERENCE and the problem of 12/20. Probably best idea would be to have one player look at the top card of the fourth hand, as in two-hand. After each hand of 6 cards is completed, this player rotates to the left.
Visit from Audrey & Ronnie Corn. Ronnie forgot to bring the repro of the rules for NUMERICAL SPREE (see 12/4) but told him that I have them. He looked thru the Pelikan rules I had and I gave him the duplicate I had of MOULIN ROUGE. He asked for repros of ARMADA and DIAMANT. He brought me an ad sheet for "Fairchild Video Entertainment System Among others, there is a game DESERT FOX, and VIDEO BLACKJACK. They also say there will be more cartridges coming. He saw a copy of the P. game like TOURING, but based on airplanes at a flea market for $13.00, but didn't buy it.
Ronnie and I played WIRE TAP, using the rules that a whole row or column could be asked. At first Ronnie thought it would be impossible - but then he liked it. I won 16 to 14.
Ronnie said that Jordan loved FUN CITY.
Ronnie bought copies of FOUR SIGHT, which he finds very difficult
