15 SATURDAY * DECEMBER 1973
349TH DAY - 16 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a card for [from?] Al and Adela Richter. (Gave to BB to answer.)
Sent X'Mas cards to Felicia; Allan Calhamer - telling him I'd
like to see THE NAVAL GAME; Don Turnbull - mentioning
PATTON, HOLIDAY, THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS, FITTING & PROPER,
S & T, GAMES WITH PENCIL AND PAPER, ALBION.
Thinking of a PUZZLE. There are 4 cardboard tubes with
diameters so that they fit inside each other. They are
divided into squares of different colors. Also all except the
inside one have holes of increasing size so that part of
each of the inside tubes can be seen thru each. Object is to
get all four colors showing at each square. The inside one has
three projections at each end; the next four projects; then five;
then six. This is to allow moving them when put together.
(Look into this further.)
Brought a copy of HOLIDAY as a hose gift for the Karlans.
Sold eight "Bekin's Boxes" to Annette Baschkopf. Gave her
one of each of the 8 sheets from ALTAIR DESIGN.

in a continuous path. (I pointed out that now there was no
necessity to stick with 24.) The player will either throw 2 dice and
move forward the sum or throw 1 die and move back that die. (I
suggested giving a choice of moving the sum forward or move either
die backward - or at least Claude thought that I suggested that. I
think that I suggested forward with the sum or backward with
the difference.) We both wondered if this change would allow for
bargaining for a player's turn to move.
Claude said that he'd like to work on MANIPULATION but feels that
he has to work on DIABOLIQUE. I told him about Kohler's complete
lack of interest which, in connection with Hallmark's switch,
makes puzzles pretty much a dead issue for now. Also that Hallmark
is interested in a "fun financial game." Claude will try to make
MANIPULATION fill that bill.
I told Claude that I was going to present THE BRAIN GAME.
He said he had some ideas for making it more fun. He doesn't
remember the details and would like to get together sometime and play.
Gave Claude the copy of S & T #41 that I took today.
Rcd. an X'Mas card and a note from Jim Scully. No success so far with
games [illegible crossed out] altho one is still under consideration.
FRACTION BROTHERS' CIRCUS, TACTICS II (an updated version),
SUPER SANDWICH, READ AROUND, MOTOCROSS.
