2 THURSDAY - AUGUST 1973
214 DAY - 151 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. [received] THE GAMESLETTER #61 (#60 hasn't come yet). Among other things, mentions REALM,INFINITY, MONTAGE, BLACKS AND WHITES, EQUATIONS, THE REAL NUMBERS GAME, TRI-NIM, WFF 'N PTOOF, BRIDGETTE, MYWORD!, ADVANCED WARGAMES, WAR GAMES, NUCLEAR DESTRUCTION (Loomis), BATTLE PLAN, NUCLEAR WARFARE, IMMPERIALISM VII, NAPOLEONIC DIPLOMACY, ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR II, 4000 A.D., BLACK HOLE DIPLOMACY,

New ideas for a deductive game - tentative home INVESTIGATION. Another possible name - TWISTS AND TURNS. On quadrille fields each player puts a continuous string of lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 long - but not necessarily in that order. Try to determine the other's layout by asking for the content of one space, or more in a limited number of times. Answer is "hit," "near" miss" (next to), or "miss." If get correctly score 1 point. If wrong opponent gets two points. Possible for both to try, at any time each has had the same number of turns.
Made a new layout for BALLY (LAPS). Filled in the numbers on an overlay. BB and I tried it on the overlay. Seemed better.

Finished the letter to Tom Atwater. Mentioned HIT THE JACKPOT, SQUARE OFF.

Wrote to Kees Vanes (which I gather is a pseudonym for C. Van Schagon). Mentioned CREATOR and his children's games.
