Rcd. my NOST membership card - 9/1/73 - 8/31/74.
Rcd. a letter from an S & T reader who wants to buy a
copy of AGOG. The letter was sent by Al Nofi. I think it
is from England, but am not sure. The writer mentions
that he enclosed an "International reply coupon."
Rcd. G & P #17. Articles and Gamesviews on: - FOX & GEESE,
SOLITAIRE, DECLINE & FALL, SKITTLES, FOIL, MATTIX,
NUMBERS UP, TABLE SOCCER, plus the standards.
Also PENTOMINOES.
Claude returned the book HANKY PANKY.
Call from Bob Gellman. He thought I'd be in today. Told him
I'd drop in Monday. We'll bring a "Gamut" game to show the
jig saw arrangement and also the 3M measurements of their box.
Bob said that he had gotten together with Felicia and Herb Roth was
there. He, Bob, mentioned that he had heard that D.O.I [?] was being
taken over by Bob Reiss. Herb said that it positively wasn't so.
I said that I had heard some rumors, but that I never say
anything unless I am told that it is not confidential.
Finished the rules for PUSHOVER.
(cont. from 9/14) [9/17]
played TABLUT. In connection with the version they are
putting out, they found that the escaping side had an
almost insurmountable advantage. I told him about the
version FREEDOM'S CONTEST, OR THE BATTLE OF THE UNION (see 8/3/63).
He said that had determined that the King's move should be
limited to 3 spaces, as in that game. They also do not allow
the King to capture when he moves, altho he can be used as
the stationary member in a custudian capture.
Phil has a date next Wednesday with Jay Peterson, Hoi
Polloi's art director, to go over the p & p games, bypassing
Carl, who is too busy with other things. Carl said to forget
about what he had previously rejected. So Phil said he has over
40 things to show.
Phil will call me after the meeting, probably on Thursday.
Showed Phil THE WORM TURNS. He thought it would be what
Hoi Polloi would like for the wood line. He said to prepare a
new model with the wood-grain cardboard, and to make it
twice as thick (4 layers) so that Carl wouldn't say it looks cheap.
He also thought that SLIDEWORD (tho not the name) and the
18 pc. GAME would be good.
The models should be ready by the end of the rules won't be necessary then.
Phil is working on a series of premium games (possibly for Post
cereals) with the overall title "Great Moments in American History".
He had two there: BLUE COATS & RED COATS,
