22 Wednesday - August 1973
234th day - 131 days to come
Rcd. [received] the outstanding book from Publishers Central Bureau - TEST YOUR LOGIC. (Discarded the note rcd. 8/18.) Rcd. a post card from Warren Buell in West Berlin. Nothing on games.
Called Jim Dunnigan and asked about the availability
of a room on 8/31 for game testing with some friends.
Sure.
Asked Jim if TURNING POINT is the same game as
THE BATTLE OF STALINGRAD. Yes. It was changed so as not
to have trademark difficulties with A.H.'s STALINGRAD.
LEE AT GETTYSBURG was changed to LEE MOVES NORTH
because of A.H.'s GETTYSBURG.
Spoke to Redmund. He still doesn't know whether will have
to cut my column in #40. I asked again about the number
of double-spaced pages with which fit on one magazine page.
He said that about 7 pages.
Called Earl Perel. He'll be at the NYGA meeting on 8/31.
Called Bob Abbott and he'll join us. I asked if he'd bring
along the book GAMES WITH PAPER & PENCIL. He sent it to
his publisher and told him to sue over ELEUSIS. He doesn't
think he can get it back.
He confirmed my feeling that SUBTERFUGE was like
THE SIGMA FILE. He will tell me how ELEUSIS is worked
when we get together on 8/31.
Called Wald and he'll join us on 8/31. He has been playing a
lot of CHESS and has been doing little work on his games.
(Actually he said he'd like to join us but may be leaving
for a cousin's wedding in California this coming weekend.)
Called Claude to tell him that I set up the NYGA meeting.
Also made a date for tomorrow. I suggested that I
bring TEN-Q and he bring the GAME from The Smithsonian
but the latter, which is called THE PRODUCTIVITY GAME,
is 21" long. We'll wait with the exchange.
Earl said he'd call Issy about joining us on 8/31, but probably
he'll be going away for Labor Day weekend.
Wrote to Gini Scott. Mentioned the Mag-Nif suit,
TURNABOUT, FITTING & PROPER, THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS,
PATTON, HOLIDAY, REALM, "Stationery show",
INTERNATIONAL GAME SHOW, SIMULATION/GAMING/NEWS,
THE WATERGATE SCANDAL, NEXUS, DIPLOMACY, SLEUTH, and
"Toy Fair."
Wrote to Graeme Levin, accepting appointment as a G&P
consultant. Mentioned CONFRONT, MILITAIRE, and the
GAME with "Knights, Bowmen, and Cannon."
