BENNINGTON BATTLE DAY (VT.) - 229TH DAY - 137 DAYS TO COME
Met Leonard Willett at bus terminal. Gave him the
contracts and our passport (the wrong one it turned out).
Drove him to I.R.S.
Call from Leonard in the afternoon. The "Capital Gains"
treatment was accepted. The only deductions thrown out were
the additional "depreciation" and "agent's fees" in 1970.
An extra bonus is that the medical deduction is bigger due to
a smaller income.
I'll go to Leonard next Tuesday to bring him the material
I rcd. from the state; also to take back my contracts, etc.
Called Felicia and she called back later. Told her my
impressions of SIJJEH, including the goof in the rules. She
wondered if anybody would be interested in it. I suggested
Hallmark since they want 2-hand skill games, and they liked
INDIAN CHESS.
At the Gift Show she met Pat Duncan of The Puzzle Factory. Pat said
that THE DICTIONARY GAME is taking off, and they are
interested in other word games. Felicia wondered if they
had seen SPELLBINDER. I said I'd check. (They didn't.)
(Later thought they might be interested in X-CHANGE-WORD.)
Felicia spoke to the Springbok salesmen and they are very
enthusiastically waiting for the puzzle line -
FITTING & PROPER, RIGHT CONNECTIONS, etc.
Chuck Dougherty contacted Bob Gellman about running the
factory. Bob is interested but told him not to make a
special trip in. I told Felicia about seeing WHITE HOUSE
and VINCE LOMBARDI'S GAME in John's. We both hope he is
not going under.
Felicia asked me about who I get Parker Brother's games from.
Told her Mike Alber. She will call me tomorrow to get his number
(to get games for Rappaports) since she is at home today.
Called "Publisher's Central Bureau" to ask about the book
MATHEMATICAL DIVERSIONS. It is out of stock and they'll send a refund.
Ordered MIDGARD (see 8/3) and NUCLEAR DESTRUCTION and
BATTLE PLAN (see 8/4).
Played three games of TRIPPPLES with Dana. Good, but rather short.
Sent 3 letters asking for glossies of STRATO TAC-TICS, TRIPPPLES,
SPACE CHESS, and DIMENSIONS.
Arthur called. He and Wald have come up with two games:
INVISIBLE MAN and DON JUAN. They are not sure whether they'll
work on UP THE ORGANIZATION or not.
Sent in an expense account to WOMAN'S DAY for my trip to Baltimore.
