Rcd. a thank you letter from Mildred Mikkanen of the
Rochester THE TIMES-UNION, thanking me for the
AGOG which reached her.
Rcd. a letter from Roger Verhulst who is doing a column
called THE GAME ROOM for the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. He
heard about me from Tom Shaw. He sent me clippings
of repros of 5 of the columns (which apparently started
on 3/24/72) on the following "games": THE GODFATHER GAME,
DIPLOMACY, AQUARIUS 2000, EMPEROR OF CHINA, and FACADE.

Rcd. THE GAMESLETTER (Vol. 8, #37). Mentions COZINE 2 which
has rules for a game RAUMKRIEG. SMITHSONIAN Magazine
(1/72) has an article which includes descriptions of
CITY MODEL, DANGEROUS PARALLEL, and THE POPULATION GAME.
Other magazine reviews contained a number of mentions
of privately produced games. Flyer for INTERNATIONAL GAME SHOW
made it seem very wargame oriented.

To Simulations. Spoke to Al Nofi. he gave me a game that someone
had bought at an auction of old games, for $1, and donated
it to Simulations. They had no use for it and gave it to me.
The game - THE ADVENTURES OF DAVY CROCKETT. The auction
was held at the "International Comic Art Convention" which is held
annually about the first week of July. There are usually
games around.
Spoke to Phil Orbanes. Nothing new from Bill Knox (GROOVE, etc.) or Bob Hallowell (XANDO, etc.).
He was aware that AQUARIUS 2000 was being written up
but hadn't seen the article. Made a copy for him.
Took a copy of MOVES (#3). Had an ad for FRANCO-PRUSSIAN WAR
a new game by Simulations; long article on LEIPZIG; a new
scenario "Bicocca" for TAC-14; a "Compendium of Wargame
Publications" by George Phillies; another new Simulations game
ad - SOLDIERS; a KURSK "revision".
Took another copy of S & T #32, also a better sheet of counters
to replace the faulty one in a copy I took last time.
In my talk with Al Nofi he said that Games Research had
decided to really start advertising DIPLOMACY.

To Lakeside office at 200 5th (TCN). Spoke to a Norman Stein
(I believe). Told him about chance to get THE IMPUZZABLES
in SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN. He didn't have any there and will
have one mailed from the factory. I should get it in about a
week. Also asked him to send me SPLIT-LEVEL AGGRAVATION
and CHAOS, but not necessarily in such a hurry.

To office of Benton & Bowles for meeting with Arthur, Wald,
Claude, and Wexler. Paul Sullivan, a 28 year old V.P.,
talked to us first and told us no royalties - $5,000
flat fee instead for each accepted game. Also if Wexler
