30 FRIDAY - JUNE 1972
182ND DAY - 184 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a letter from Stephen Sniderman. He is sending me copies of
CONTROL and FOOL'S GOLD. He will send me copies of
LABYRINTH and HYPOCRISY when he gets the rules finished.
Mentions SPIRKLE, X-TRACT, WTHT VWLS, BLANKETY-BLANK,
NOUN-SENSE.
Made a set of cards and a board for playing THE BRAIN GAME.
Took equipment from various sources, including
STOCK MARKET (Gunn) and HI-BALL.
Called Bob Schneider about SCOTLAND YARD. In conference and
secretary said he'd call back. Didn't.
Felicia called. She asked if I had a color picture of
a GAME by Bob Martin that looked like a MONOPOLY
variation. Told her I remembered seeing it but didn't
think I had it.
She put Chuck Daugherty on with a question. He has a
children's card game, tentative name ECO-CARD, for
EduCards. There are pictures of pollution problems on
one side with solutions on the others. Players draw a
card and the player on the left answers the problem.
Correct answer keeps the card. (Rough idea.) Chuck was
wondering how to determine first play. I suggested
oldest player, since going first was not an advantage.
(Felicia called later to say she thought of it independently.)
Chuck said that Felicia found the picture. Didn't
ask the name and wasted some time later looking
for the reference to it, without success.
Chuck said he was looking forward to start work on
a TV GAME with me in a month or so.
Mailed copies of AGOG to Bob Johnson (Hallmark),
Mildred Mikkanen (see 5/18), and Larry Blandin of
INTERNATIONAL GAME SHOW.
To Arthur's. Wald, and later, Claude there. Wald spoke to
Howard Wexler today and the date was set for next
Thusday at 2:00, instead of Friday, so that a V.P. of
HASBRO could make it.
Played the Amberstone's TOWN AND COUNTRY. For board see
7/29/71. This board is for 2, 3, or 4 players. For 5
add another town and and 3 country spaces. For 6 add 2
more towns and 6 country spaces.
Each player starts in his town with a marker. High throw
of one die goes first. Before throwing the die for a turn
player announces odd or even and puts down an amount he
wants to bet. The payoff depends on the color of the
country space landed on. Yellow is 1x the bet, green 2x the
bet, and blue 3x the bet. The one whose turn it is pays
