23 THURSDAY - MARCH 1972 83RD DAY - 283 DAYS TO COME

Jean Stapleton, Bob Hallowell's secretary called. Bob had called
her and asked her to call me and tell me to casll Fred Feucht.
Did so althugh he called me yesterday. He didn't know the reason.

Rcd. a letter sent to Random House by an AGOG reader -
{Stephen L. Sniderman
{212 Colonial Dr. #2
{Youngstown, Ohio 44505
He is a "game nut" who has some 50 completed games. He has
tried, unsuccessfully, a few times to sell his games. He
would like to join NYGA. He sent rules for three oral games - SPIRKLE, LEX, X-TRACT. Also brief descriptions of 8
equipment games - KUDO, PICTURE CHARADES, FOOL'S GOLD, HOOKEY,
PUNCHLINE, HYPOCRISY, LABYRINTH, CONTROL.

To M.B. for talk with Mickey Mackay. Told me a little about
the male chauvenism of some of the men (no names) now that
she is actually in M.B.
I mentioned my talk with Marshall Lucas. She saw him on Monday.
He is up to his neck getting a number of licensing items ready
for Stationery Show, including a Charlie Chaplin doll. Games, she
believes, are pretty low on his priority list.
Discussed my BOOK WORLD column and the fact that Tincher had
tried to interest game companies in advertising, without success.
She said she'd put in a word with the advertising people at M.B. She
said she appreciated how I had gone out of my way to include
a M.B. game in each column. I said that Iliked both
CARDINO and SUMMIT as games.
For the Xerox exhibit she will send me HAPPINESS, MANHUNT,
STRATEGO, FINDERS KEEPERS, and ARCHIE BUNKER'S DING BAT CARD GAME.
If one of the new ones is not available she will send me LIFE.

To G. & R. The secretary was very helpful and gave me a lot of
samples. Before we went into
those I copied the board for
MATCH AND MOVE (see 2/29). There
were no rules in the box. I don't
know the significance of the
missing lines at the sides.
Took samples of the following games; some for Xerox and some for S & T
review. Told her I'd return those I
didn't use at all : - GROUP THERAPY,
SEDUCTION, PURE GREED, CARAPACE,
HAAR HOOLIM PERCEPTION GAMES,
NOSTALGIA, CLASS (which they are
now handling), ON-SETS,
CONFIGURATIONS, EQUATIONS,
MATCHMAKER, CONFRONTATION,
MARIENBAD, EURO-CARD, ON-WORDS,
(cont. on -6)

[Detailed Diagram of what looks to be a game board. There are four colors (red, yellow, blue, and green) and four shapes (triangle, square, pentagon, and circle). Essentially it is an 8 x 8 grid, but three spaces at each corner have been removed. Clockwise starting from the top left those spaces are labeled 'Yellow pentagons start', 'Red triangles start', 'Green circles start', and 'Blue squares start'. In the board, all spaces are filled with one of the shapes in one of the different colors.]
