since I am the only one doing reviews, I just present the
facts.
Looked quickly at ALBION Magazines in library. Have to spend some time on it.
Back at Skunk Works waited for Phil to pick up the game. Spoke with
Al Nofi. He was looking for the name of a game which I
determined was CONCENSUS. He said it was a lousy game - or
rather a lousy simulation since a player could easily be popular
in both the south and the northern urban areas, for
instance, at the same time. He is writing a paper on simulation
games for schools. One that he thinks is excellent is
1787 altho the price is exorbitant; actually just about all of
them are. It is listed in THE GUIDE TO SIMULATION GAMES FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING.
Another he thought pretty bad is TRIANGLE TRADE.
I asked him if he gets ahold of simulation games and has a
chance to copy the rules, to get me a copy. He said he would.
Spoke to Phil Orbanes. (He had called BB and asked her to give me
the message that Bob Hallowell would like the rules to all
6 p. & p. games by Monday. He didn't know exactly why Bob wanted
them, but I said I'd try to have a first draft ready by then.
In connection with the improvement in WILDCAT, I said it would
be a good idea to get together and play the other games (HEXOWORD,
AIR BATTLE, CONNECTIONS, XANDO, TOURNEY). We'll try next week.
Phil told me about a magazine called COACHING LINES put
out, he believes as a one man operation by:

Got a repro (discarded) of a letter which says in part:
"The deadline for all articles and advertisements for
COACHING LINES #6 is September 25, 1971. Present
circulation of CL is 3,250 (and rising daily). Advertising
rates go up to: $14.00 - 1/4 page; $27.00 - 1/2 page; $50.00 - Full Page.
These rates take effect for ads submitted for CL #7
(deadline: October 15, 1971)."
Spoke to Phil about GROOVE and Bill Knox. Phil is
pretty fed up with him over my things and his too.
Knox is now on vacation in Europe. Phil will go after him
as soon as he gets back.
Told Phil about seeing Carl & Manny. Also about lack of
games at Reiss showroom. Phil hopes that both Hoi
Polloi and Gametime will be getting into board games.
I asked about the Gametime stock offering. It is
touch and go as to whether he will sell the required 50%.
If he doesn't he will be bankrupt, but not necessarily out
of business. Herb Hochstetter, who is a management
consultant, has found him two new underwriters.
Incidentally, Andy Davis, who is lawyer to Hochstetter,
Feucht, and Hallowell got them all together.
