is the monthly choice, and nothing else of interest.
 
Went over the rules Jim Rockwell sent me for <u>TEMPO</u>, <br>
<u>INTERPLAY</u>, and <u>ODD OR EVEN</u> sent me. Wrote letter to Jim Rockwell.

John Geiger over in the evening after demonstrating <u>LOGI-QUAD</u> <br>
& <u>METRO-MOSAIC</u> at Brentano's with Heather - his daughter. <br>
She saw two purchases of <u>AGOG</u> <br>
John brought me a Brentano's catalog. It listed <u>VENTURE</u>,  <br>
<u>MONAD</u>, and <u>METRO-MOSAIC</u>, among others. <br>
He brought me the "Creative Playthings" rules for <u>LOGI-QUAD</u>, <br>
which I placed in <s>the</s> one of the boxes. <br>
At one time the rules for <u>LOGI-QUAD</u> <s>allowed</s> gave a player <br>
an additional move after each score. He eliminated this in  <br>
order to save on the number of balls necessary for <br>
the game. When, and if, he manufactures his own balls he <br>
will be able to include more and will give this as an <br>
alternate rule. It makes for a faster game. <br>
We discussed his putting out <u>PATTERNS II</u>. An opaque box <br>
for each grid will take care of the secrecy, <s>and</s> two <br>
different shades of the 4 colors will take care of  <br>
differentiating information & guesses, and black (or <br>
possibly white) balls can be use[d] for requesting information. <br>
Over 400 balls will be necessary, however, which will <br>
make the price too high. Pieces of an extruded tube could <br>
be used and these would be a lot cheaper. He will check <br>
into the various problems. When, and if, he is ready we  <br>
will go together to Fabio, or I will go alone to check the <br>
form of the credit to <u>AGOG</u> and Random House.
 
Played COUNTERPOINT with Phil and it worked well. Then <br>
the 4 of us played and in two seperate games an <br>
impasse developed when each side was using two colors <br>
without any possibility of scoring, but taking the fifth <br>
color would be a losing move. The first time I thought <br>
of forcing the leading side to break the impasse. But the  <br>
2nd one developed before either side had scored.
 
Bernie Newman called. Told me about <u>AGOG</u> in <u>SATURDAY REVIEW</u>. <br>
They are still trying to get Ed-U-Cards  from E.S.R. Meade <br>
Paper had put in an offer but something fell thru. He <br>
will keep me posted.
