FRIDAY 19 SEPTEMBER Ember Day 1969 262nd day - 103 days to come

Rcd. a copy of the Stancraft contract with a short note from Tom Atwater. Also the rules for DŌZO (filed in "Board Games" Folder) and HAGGLE (file in "Party Games" Folder).

Rcd. a change of address form from F. Daniel.

The board for LENSMAN came - but not the rest of the game.

To Jim Dunnigan's to test games. Played TRI-NIM with Larry. It works very well. I beat him soundly. Played quite a few games of DECISIONS, DECISIONS, with Edi, with Larry, with Dale (who was invited by Edi) and mostly with Red. Once I discovered the binary connection between the slides and the number it controlled it became a game of skill. However the first player has a decided advantage and in three final games Red & I played the first player won by a score of 8 to 4. Some ideas for variations:- (Edi's) Have marbles of different colors with a different point value attached to each. (Mine) Use all 4 yellow marbles, eliminating one of the blue and set up the board at random. (Mine) When a yellow marble is dropped it is replaced to- gether with one of your opponent's marbles, not yours. To make the play easier to see the extra marble can be placed in the slide that was last used. Jim wants my Nov.-Dec. column to be around 1800 words. He doubts if I will be able to work out something with Jared so quickly. Call Arthur. He changed his mind about an ad in STRATEGY & TACTICS. He has gotten about 50 letters on POWER and he is in constant communi- cation with PACE Magazine.
