THURSDAY 19 JUNE 1969 170th day - 195 days to come

Barbara called. She will send me a zerox of the jacket with an indication of the colors.

Called Claude. Told him I'm going to Arthur's tomorrow. Probably he'll come. He has an idea for an action game where plastic move around a tree by shaking and one tries to catch the other GAME.

Thought of reducing TAKE-5 to 41 pcs. by using a 41 space board and limiting the movement to the direction of the edges of the spaces and only counting adjoining pcs. along the edges. Called Stan and he was pleased. I'll try it out during the next two weeks, when they are closed for vacation.

Sent the TAM-BIT contract to Stan after Charley Brutchy witnessed it. Also sent the SLAM copyright repro to Bar- bara.

Bob Abbott over with his new girlfriend. He and I played TEMPO. He wasn't crazy about it. He read the description of CROSSINGS and PATTERNS II in my book. He liked the for- mer, the way I wrote it up, and he thought the latter was great.

The June TOYS & NOVELTIES came. /// Clipped article from Daily News about INSTANT INSANITY. Totally wrong.

(cont. from 6/20) [6/20] trick taken by the winner counts 100, the 2nd 200, etc. If won by "revolution" or "surpression" the winning trick scores double. Thus winning with the third trick taken by the winner scores 900 (100 + 200 + 600). If the team two players win, each scores the full amount of their victory. When 4 play there are two teams and no dummy. When 2 play use only 2 houses and a trick consists of 2 cards. They read me the rules (if that is the word) for their new version of POWER. The squares of the three colors are still used, an "adequate" amount for the number of players. Each player in turn gets squares of cardboard 1" on a side. They can cut them to another shape and can mark them in any way. They can be placed anywhere and can be given any power, which the player can divulge or not as he wishes. I asked what would happen if I said my piece could take off all opponent's pieces on the board. They said that I could do that, but then others would do it for me and there would be no point to it. Instead compromises have to be reached. (cont. on 6/15)
