SATURDAY 3 MAY 1969 123rd day - 242 days to come
Put backs on the DIGIT cards, but didn't cut the corners yet.
A check from Ideal came for $116.83 for CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN.
Took out the old TAM-BIT board and made a third scoring area.
Claude called. His mother is not feeling well and we can't have the NYGA meet- ing there. Told him that I might go to Arthur's. Possibly he will too. Oggi talked to Claude about the possibility of a words GAME using syllables rather than letters. Claude told them he thought there was such a game. I told him it was THE VERBAL GAME and will send him an extra copy of the rules I have. I told him to use that as an example of what not to do and then come up with a game of his own.
Brought a copy of BAZAAR on a visit to the Karlan's. They insisted on my autographing it.
Played regular DIGIT - that is BB, Clara, Sid, & Mitch played while I watched. It was a little slow moving but they liked it. Then Mitch left and the 4 of us played SPEED DIGIT. Also well liked.

with the object of getting one of each symbol showing on each side of the tower. FASCINATING CUBE: A SOMA imitation. SKY HIGH: A BLOCKHEAD imitation. Avalon Hill Co.:- Spoke to Harold Frankel. Apparently I can't get samples thru him. Hinted but he said that Tom Shaw would be sending out games. Had an empty box for WALL STREET. Baekgaard and Butler - representing Clever Games. BEAT THE MARKET: Got a sample for review. S.J. Miller: ENCOUNTA - MANCALA with a wooden board. He was interested in seeing a copy of STRATEGY & TACTICS with the idea of subscribing. He had been thinking of putting out a magazine devoted to games. George F. Cram Co.:- PLA-O-MAPS GAME: A set of plastic maps of U.S. and also of various areas of the world. These are marked with grease pencils, answering various questions of location of cities and countries, etc. (Picture in 1969 Ad Clips.) Colton-Lewis:- Had a three dimensional TIC-TAC-TOE and a CHESS game with 3 - 8x8 boards. Didn't get a name for either. 3M:- Spoke to Bill Caruson again and he didn't seem bored. He said that he still thought ACQUIRE was their best game and he was just surprised it didn't sell more. STOCKS AND BONDS shows them just have much a game can sell. Told him of the eyestrain problem with BAZAAR. He'll look into it. (cont. on 5/2)
