4/6 TUESDAY 8 APRIL 1969 98th day - 267 days to come

Read the rules of CAR*TEL on the subway. Still don't care much for it.

I called Micky McKay and she arranged for me to pick up some games at 200 - 5th and some at her office on 51st St. At lunchtime to 200 - 5th. Secretary at M.B. gave me HIT THE BEACH and glossy pictures and descriptions of WORD WILD, STRATEGY POKER, THE MATCH GAME, SNAP JUDGEMENT. Went to Selchow & Righter. Went to Selchow & Righter. Gal who I saw at Toy Fair gave me an 1968 catalog and marked off the discontinued items. Also took sheets on the new games. She also gave me a copy of RSVP.

Went to Gary & Reidel. Found out that CONCENSUS is finished. The Createk line is still alive. Daystar's BIG BOARD is being rede- signed, at lest the box, and also they have changed their repre- sentatives. Got rules for NOORDS (Products of the Behavorial Sciences).

To Cadaco. Saw a new balancing game TUMBLE LOGS.

Went to Diversified Creations rep and looked at TIP-OFF which is a skill game with a Basketball motif. Didn't take the time to look at it completely and they didn't have a spare set of the rules.

After work to Felicia. Bill Dodge up for awhile. Had an idea for a GAME. There is an octogon shaped wooden board with a rim around the edge. There is a black peg in the center and 8 black pegs along the edges. In between are 5 rings (I think it is 5) of 8 pegs in difference. Rubber bands are placed [crossed out] around one of the pegs at the edge and stretched with a crochet hook and placed around other pegs which score, more as you ap- proach the center. Also possible to score for getting a sequence of different colored pegs touched with the rubber band. Lose points when you break a rubber band. Bill would like me work with him on it. Said maybe about two months but that he should try him- self first. We asked him about NILE and he said that it sold well the first year, no so good after. And the only way to deal with Lowe is to sign the contract and then start suing.

After Bill left Felicia showed me some games. TURTLE SCHOONER and APPRECIATION. Took them to reproduce. GOODIES & BADIES: Something about filling in spaces, using dice and cards. Incomprehensible and uninteresting. MAVERICK: A card word game made up by someone in the internal revenue service. Using cards from the hand and on the table to make words. Nothing new. The wild cards are called "mavericks." DYNAMITE: (sent in by a Canadian). There are some 15 holes in a board. One player, in secret, places an exploding cap in one of the holes. The other player then places a stick into the holes (cont. on 4/6)
