THURSDAY 27 MARCH 1969 86th day - 279 days to come
Reached Collier in the A.M. Supposed to call me back, but didn't. Feliciia called to check again. We postponed our meeting from next Tuesday to the Tuesday of the following week. She has a number of games to show me, including one from Canada, called DYNAMITE. In her checking around she [crossed out] is told that ACQUIRE is up to STOCKS AND BONDS in sales. But BAZAAR is not doing too well.
Went to 200 5th Ave. to return ROBBER ROULETTE, which was a trivial variation of ROULETTE to Renwal. Went to Pressman and saw Mr. Pressman for a moment. He in- structed his secretary to have someone show me their new game HI SPOT. There is a container with 9 spaces for piling plastic squares. There are 64 squares with from 1 to 5 black spots on each, out of 9 possible locations (I think this is the number, but all 64 squares were not available, since it only a mock-up.). Players in turn play one of 5 squares which they have on a rack (and replace it from a grab bag after each play). Players can play in an empty container (if one is available) or on top of a previously played square or squares, except that a spot cannot cover a previously placed spot. Score the number of spots showing at the end of the play (9 maximum). This has similarities to an idea for a GAME I had using plastic squares. (See Pressman 1969 catalog. Also has a picture of TRI-OMINOES. Also got catalogs from Lakeside, Milton Bradley, and Transogram.
Started a letter to Lech Pijanowski.
At B & N bought THE COMPLETE ILLUSTRATED GUIDE TO GAMBLING.
At 200 5th Ave. went to the Avalon Hill showroom looking for Harold Frankel. Not there but got his home phone number. Harold Frankel [address] Flushing, N.Y. 11367 [phone number] At the same office (Kaycee Associates) saw a game GREAT FIGHTS (Research Games). Just an empty box. Based on prize-fighting.
