MONDAY 3 MARCH 1969 62nd day - 303 days to come

Called Jules Cooper. I'm to call him again tomorrow about getting to- gether.

Call from Felicia. She spoke to Bob Claude. There are rumors that Hasbro is going to do a line of Bookcase games. Bob said that Will Erickson bought the game SPELLBOUND recently and therefore we can't use SPELLBINDER. Felicia told him we knew of the former but thought that it was long since dead. In any case my name was too long for their art work. Felicia told him about Parker and VENTURE. He was upset.

Mailed the BALI article - a repro that is - from TOY & HOBBY WORLD (which I picked up at fair) to Felicia.

Received RAT RACE, [crossed out], CUBE FUZION, and ASTRO BLITZ from Bryce Russell; the finished product.

Rcd. answers from Universal Games, Hasbro, H.B. Seelbrede (FENCE), John E. Burleson (BATTLE STATIONS), Wm. McGaughey, Jr. (MINITAR).

Finished the rules of SPELLBINDER, BB typed them & I fixed the new equipment. (Up late.)

met at previous fairs. He didn't want to look at FREE FORM then. Sometime around July we'll get together when he is in New York. He promised to send me copies of ANZIO and C&O/B&O and also the rules of TUF'ABET. This is played, he says, just the same as TUF with the object of getting the longest word from a number of thrown dice.

To Hasbro. The sales manager was very polite but asked if I could possibly wait till after Toy Fair. Said I could.

To Ideal. Jules Cooper took me to a conference room and showed me his game BEWILDER. There is a rack with 9 spaces for holding cards as shown.

[diagram of 3 x 3 grid with circle on each. Empty circles are labeled "Green," and shaded circles are labeled "Blue." Caption reads "7 cards in each pile, alternating colors." Drawing of rectangle with shaded circle on it, labeled "Card."]

At the beginning they are set up as shown. Each player in turn (any number can play) makes 9 moves of the top card of 1 pile to the top of another pile. Can't make 2 successive moves from the same pile, or to the same pile. First player attempts to end up with all the blue cir- cles on top of the piles and scores 1 point for each. If all 9, double score to 18. Next player attempts to get green, starting from the position left by previous player. Etc. Play to 100 points. (cont. on 3/2)
