SUNDAY 2 MARCH Second Sunday in Lent Texas Independence Day 1969 61st day - 304 days to come

Wrote up ORIGINS OF WORLD WAR I.

Started the new rules of SPELLBINDER.

(cont. from 3/3) [3/4] Another new game in their line is RADAR SEARCH. This has an upright board with a picture of the world and multiple paths connecting a starting & finishing space with the rest of the world. Once player has two pieces which represent spies. The other has one piece which re- presents a police helicopter. In each turn the player with the spies can move one or the other piece 1 space. One every other turn the move is visible to the other player. The others are invisible and the spy player doesn't have to identify which one he moves (if he can confuse the police). The police helicopter can move one or two spaces and all of his moves are visible to the spy. (A "radar scope" is used for viewing the opponent's moves.) The spy wins if he moves one piece around the world and back to the starting place without either [crossed out] piece being caught by the police. When caught a buzzer buzzes and the police wins. Jules said that the detective line was being stopped for a year and that possibly next year they will reissue CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN and AND THEN THERE WERE NONE. He thinks the latter is the best and he will send me a copy. He asked me why I haven't been showing him any games. Told him I was tied up with the book for the last year.

To Whitman. Met Felicia again. Bob Engel on his way out for an appointment. Said he'd call me tonight. We looked thru the showroom. FOCUS is displayed in a few places.

To Kohner Bros. Met Mr. Kohner for a moment. Wanted to show him FITTING & PROPER but he was busy and I wanted to get to the hotel so I said I'd be back tomorrow.

To Wff 'n Proof To Aco. Spoke to Al Samuels. Showed him TOTALLY-- and he really liked it. He thought it would be better to provide 4 sets of dice rather than the cardboard square I provided. He thought that each should throw their own dice but I said that that loses the incentive of getting the most out of a throw. Then I suggested that both ways can be included if the 4 sets of dice are included. Because of his reception of TOTALLY-- I decided to show him FITTING & PROPER. He liked it also and his assistant, Charlotte (I think), thought it was great. Al took the two of them with him and said he'd get right on to costing them out and will let me know as soon as he has something defin- ite. He believes in royalties but we'll discuss the rate after he finishes the costing. He will also be putting out some games by a teacher in the midwest who is dealing exclusively thru him. This teacher has a TV show (cont. on 3/1)
