TUESDAY 18 FEBRUARY Shrove Tuesday Mardi Gras (Ala., Fla., La.) 1969 49th day - 316 days to come
Felicia called. Had a letter from Arnold Shapiro. "Though there is
no decision there is more talk of games around."
He'll keep us informed.
Took Claude to lunch at Tad's.
Spoke to Claude Oggi said that they would probably be giving him an advance.
I told him about brought along THE MASTER BOOK OF MATHEMATICAL RECREATIONS for
him to look at. Also brought him the cubes. After our meeting he went
to Emerson Books to look at a puzzle book they advertised. (Later
he told me there wasn't anything in it for us.)
Stan Harris called and we arranged to meet at 200 Fifth Ave. tomorrow.
The letter from Bill Caruson finally came. It was lacking a stamp.
Rcd. answers from John Scarne (a real nut), Hawkins & Hawkins (They are sending me a copy of the deluxe RANDOO.) What-cha-ma-call-it
Toys & Novelties came. In new products they listed LOGI-QUAD and FENCE (This is the same game I bought back in 1957.) Also found out that FUNNY BONES is put out by Parker.
Sent the Preface to Fabio.
Looked at the Createk games in preparation to meeting Stan tomorrow.
(cont. from 2/27) [2/27]
The captured player can challenge. If the player bluffed he has to take an extra card. If he didn't, the other does. Play till a player gets rid of his cards. (Rough idea).
Jerry D'Arcey called me at work. He is mad at Parker over their not fixing up the rules of COUP D'ÉTAT, also about their diddling over HANG UP and then going with SOMA. Lakeside is using them and calling them THE IMPUZZABLES. He is not sure that 3M has definitely taken PLOY. Frank has not received his advance yet. He will call me tomorrow about getting together.
Rcd. FACULTY CARDS and also a letter from Al Samuels. He suggested that I bring some games to show him. Also rcd. EMO, the latest issue of STRATEGY & TACTICS, the book DU BIST DRAN from Lech, a catalog from Otto Maier from Bryce Russell, my SPELLBINDER model from Bob Claude, and the February Playthings mag. Letters from Oggi, Bob Engel, Barrett Game Group, LOW BIDDER. PSYTÉGÉ returned addressee unknown. (cont. on 2/17)
