5/23 5/18 WEDNESDAY 22 MAY Rogation Day 1968 143rd day - 223 days to come

Called Alice to see if she minded by coming over when Jim & Will came. She said no so I came over.

Showed the following games to them:- FLINGERS :- An attractive looking game by Natelie Donna. They said to send it along without playing.

INFINITE PLANE :- Will and I played it for almost an hour and he liked it very much. We'll send it along as soon as we get some more submission forms. I also think I'll put con- tact backs on the cards.

MAVERICK COUNTRY or preferably MATCHED SET :- Showed them just a little of it but they both liked it a lot. It may go in a new line of less strategic games. I'll change the instruc- tions to match the new name.

AIRLINE :- Showed it to Jim and he wasn't greatly impressed. He also said that they had seen and rejected a game that looked very much like mine within the last year. He will check on it when he gets back and let me know about it. A big objection to the game would be that a lot of big cities are not included which could turn dealers in those cities against it.

SPECTRUM :- Alice pushed me to show this to Jim although I didn't feel we should since Will had seen it some time ago and wasn't too much impressed. Jim thought it was too egghead. Didn't show them INVASION since they had a war game originally called CHIVALRY, and then changed to FEUDAL because of TradeMark difficulties, which will be test-marketed next fall.

A asked Will if I should mention to Frank Thibault that they are going to test market TOTAL OUT next fall. He said he's rather I didn't and I said "fine."

I stayed after they left to talk, mainly with Alice, Felicia leaving soon after. Alice started talking with Will about removing the reduction clause in the ACQUIRE & BAZAAR contracts since others don't have them. This happened while I was playing with Jim and they got off the subject. She'll call him at his hotel. Alice and I played FLINGERS. There are 66

spaces on the board shaped as shown and mostly connected together as shown although there are a few isolated groups of three or so. There are 8 different colors. There are 6 sets of 11 pieces which have the same shape as the spaces. Each of the 6 sets are a different assortment of the eight colors. They are also numbered with numbers from 1 to 8, each color being given the same number for each piece of that color. The sets also have an identifying mark. (Natelie also suggested having plastic pcs. which are drawn at random and then marked with the players initial.) When 4, 5, or 6 play each get one set of pcs. With 3 each (cont. on 5/23)
