K.M.S. Industries : - Spoke to Robert A. Shaw, the National Sales
Manager. Asked him about SCORE FOUR It is a 3-dimensional
"Tic-Tac-Toe" and it is put out by another division of the
same company. He said he would send me a copy of it and
also the four games put out by the "Scientific Games
Division" ("Score Four" is put out by the "Funtastic Division"
which they acquired) - BUY OR SELL, COOPERATION, SKIRMISH,
& PSYCHE PATHS. The latter was invented by a bearded eccentric
with 2 P.H.D. degrees. He will send me some info on him.
They had a Canadian Game there called RAT RACE which the
publisher was trying to interest them in taking over. It had
a board with large squares starting i[crossed out] around the edge and
then spiraling to the center. Players had businesses which
they owned and there were squares on the board color coded
to the player's token. When landed on by opponents they
pay, but get a receipt, when land on "pawn shop" can pawn
the receipts for 1/2 the value of the item. As go along the
path advance from lower class to middle class and finally to
upper class. Object, I believe, is to arrive at upper class
with a certain amount of money. Rough idea. Didn't seem to
offer any chance for skill.
KMS also has a SOMA imitation in plastic which sells for $9.
Broman/Percepta :- Put out GAME OF 99. and CONESTOGA and also a new variation of MILL called THIRD MAN He gave me a copy. They also put out ELEPHANT CHESS which is a the CONESTOGA has been improved, he said. There is more de- . cision making in the first stage of the of the game (see 6/13/64). For example - an inheritance which gives a choice of going back east to collect it on you you wait for it. Also the amount to be made from gold hunting . has been reduced considerably so that there is less chance to win by a lucky find. The board is now printed on the two outside faces of the box.
