SUNDAY 19 MAY Rogation Sunday 1968 140th day - 226 days to come
[crossed out lines]
Checked the overlays for STATEMENT that I made yesterday and made a few correction.
Played CASINO at the hospital.
(cont. from 5/21) [5/21]
PREDICTA - a gadget like a "Ouiji Board" [Ouija] with a pen mounted at the point, which makes a line as it moves.
JEU DE MARIAGE - A French import consisting of a deck of 30 cards matched into 15 pairs. Played like OLD MAID but without the "Old Maid" card. Score for pairs obtained.
Milton Bradley:- DON'T TELL ME :- There is a track with numbers 0 to 99 and each player has two pegs to use on the track. Each player has a headdress into which two digits are placed so that only the player cannot see them. Players in turn guess a number and are told whether it is high or low. They use their two pegs to mark the limits as they develope. Win by getting number first. (This seems awfully simple. Not sure whether there is any other factors involved.)
BRIDGE FOR THREE :- Didn't find out what was different - if anything.]
DROP IN THE BUCKET :- An action game which I didn't see in action.
There is a bucket type gadget worn at the waste waist into which
other player drop something (I think).
STRATEGY RUMMY :- Played with a regular deck of cards and a mat
which has provision for from 2 to 4 players and in the
center a holder for "antes" and spaces for placing bets.
On the mat in front of each player is a layout as shown.
[diagram of two rows of rectangles:
Row 1: four rectangles, each labeled "1 DN."
Row 2: two sets of three rectangles, labeled "UP," "DN.," "UP" with "THREE" underneath each set]
All players ante and then are dealt 10 cards
Each player in turn must place a 3 card "lay"
on his layout. One card is face down so he can
bluff. If others think he is bluffing they
place a bet. If no one bets the facedown card
is never turned. If there is at least one bet the card is
turned up to settle the bet. If a bluff, the cards must be re-
turned to the hand (I am pretty sure). Once there are three
card lays on the table a player may, instead of making a
new lay, place a face down card in the "1 dn." space, an-
nouncing the card. Betting is carried on in the same way. A
loser (I believe) has to put ante up additional chips.
