Patriots' Day (Me., Mass)

To 5th Ave. Bldg. again. While waiting for Mel Meyer looked at
Toy & Hobby World. Had an ad for COUPLE a piece about
COUPLE UP (Continental Electronics Inc.) with a picture.
Showed a fellow and a girl with gadgets strapped to
their forehead, each knee, and each elbow. These apparently,
can be coupled.
Showed Mel Meyer DATA. Didn't care for it.
PAYOFF: Wants a week to think about it. The secretary
suggested having corporation names on the coalition cards
so that players are combining to form a corporation.
Mell, and another manufacturer Bill (?) liked the idea.
Mel also thought something should be introduced to build
a climax.
TAKE A NUMBER: They liked this at once. They preferred using
a two-minute timer and having each player work by himself
I suggested using both versions. Mel wanted to take
the game along with him but I wanted to take it home
since the rules still have to be wrtitten. I'll bring it,
and possibly PAYOFF next Friday. I will try to think
of a more catchy name for TAKE A NUMBER.
At Savoy Toy Store saw GRAB A LOOP (M.B.), 3 to 6 can play.
Each player has a bolt with 6 sockets mounted on it.
The bolt is fastened so that the two sockets are in front,
two in back, and one on each side. Each player is numbered
from 1 to 6. Each has a set of colored loops, 6 colors
(I think) with his number on each. These are inserted
in the sockets. There are 6 plastic bases, one for each player.
The bases, for the number of players playing, are arranged
in as large a circle as the room permits. Player
no. 1 announces a color and all the players leave their
bases and enter the playing circle - "arena". Object to
grab loops of the chosen color and avoid having yours
grabbed. You can twist your body to defend your loop
but may not use your hands. When a player has grabbed
a loop he can place a foot on his base and his loop is
then free from capture. When only two remain they may
agree to each return, ending the round. Continue until
all the colors have been called (in turn by the players).
Players score 10points for each captured loop and 5 points
for each loop of their own not captured.
If a player grabs a wrong colored loop he must return
it to the owner and also give him a penalty loop.
If a loop is found on the floor it is returned to its owner.
