WEDNESDAY 21 FEBRUARY 1968 52nd day - 314 days to come

Alice called. Letter from Arnold. He had forgotten about NOMINATION and CINEMA because they were accepted before he was involved. The former should have been ready in time for the election this year, and wasn't. As for the latter they don't know "how or when" they will do it. Alice read me Bill Caruson's letter to Larry Winter. The reason HIGH BID did better in 1966 than 1967 is because the first year of an ordinary game is the pipeline onto the shelves. The next year depends on how many replacements are needed. They think that HIGH BID is one of their better games and they expect growing acceptance. Another point in the letter. For two months in the spring they didn't do any selling at all while they were rounding up fair trade agreements.

Bob Abel called. His agent, Theron Raines, has another client, a mystery writer, who has made a word checker GAME and they would like some advice on it. I told Bob about others like it but that I'd be glad to look at it. He will give his agent my number.

Played several games of 500 RUMMY @ dad's.

The Pocket FOCUS set (he calls it MINI-FOCUS) from Dr. Makepeace came. He put a terrific amount of work into it. Played part of a game with it.
