1/25 1/24 FRIDAY 26 JANUARY 1968 26th day - 340 days to come
Thinking of an idea for DETOUR. Play 4-hand and the paths
must start from each of the 4 directions. The players
sitting across from each other are semi-partners. That is,
there is a scoring system and the winner scores 2 points
and the player sitting across from him scores 1 point.
Thinking of DIRECTION. To give a player a little more op- portunity to do what it wants it might be a good idea to put in 4 picture of each color, making 40 cards. These can be layed out in 5 columns of 8 cards each. The player who has the least cards appearing on top plays first. The pictures, of course, are wild cards.
Bill Bentzin called to get information on me to send to the
- Mike Douglas show. Told him the following:-
- 600 games with equipment to play.
- 300 books in 7 languages.
- 1000 or more patents (1900 to 1930).
- Published games: ACQUIRE, POKE, BAZAAR, FOCUS, SLAM, CASE OF THE ELUSIVE ASSASSIN, HIGH SPIRITS. [5 others being considered - which is an understatement].
- 40 original games with playable models.
- 50 original card games.
- 50 original P&P, coin, domino, etc. games.
Arthur met me at the office. We reproduced the following of his games which are filed in misc. card game folder:-
- VERSAILLES
- KNIGHTS AND VASSALS
- PARIS
- MERLIN'S SOLITAIRE
Play a few games of DETOUR using the rules of
12/25/67 & 1/1/68 (3 cards in a hand). Claude Played that
when all the 25 arrows have been placed a player in turn
can move a pc. from any position to one determined by
his card's coordinates.
Someone suggested having more than 3 cards in hand.
Later I thought of having 4 cards in hand and having
to use the entire four, in pairs of 2, for moving an
arrow pc.
Arthur suggested that it might be playable just by
playing pcs. at will, without using cards to designate
a pair of coordinates.
Wald and Arthur had a GAME which first they played and
then I played with Wald. I thought it was much
to difficult. It is played on a 12 x 12 grid. Each
player starts with 3 "powers" placed as shown.
