15 Saturday - October 1977
288th day - 77 days to come
Rcd. [received] envelope from Phil Orbanes with repros [reproductions] of his drawings for what
he still calls SPECTACTULARS.
Jenny from next door brought in a U.P.S. package with
THE INTERNATIONAL MONETARY GAME. In it was a short note from
Steven Luckey, who must be the inventor.
At flea market near Edith's bought 13 more "General Dynamics" pens (see 9/4) for $1.00 - from the same dealer. Also bought 2 books on "Logic" and 1 on "The Elements of Dynamic Symmetry" for 10¢ each.
Visit from the Richters. Played a lot of TWISTS 'N' TURNS with
Al and he liked it a lot. After a few games we discovered that
having 6 pcs. [pieces] with all edges your own color made it too east to
mount an early offensive. Cut down the pcs. to 5 of each kind
instead of 6 and this made a better game; for one thing the
reuse of a pile to 4, but decided that 5 is better since everything
else is in 5's. Also the tendency is for the piles to stop at 3, since
putting the 4th level allows the opponent to stop at put on the last pc.
Al thought that I could make pcs similar to HI-SPOT, but they
were just flat. This started me thinking whether I had a copy
of the game. In diary found that I did, but Al and I couldn't
find it downstairs. After he left I discovered it downupstairs.
At a garage sale they bought CORNER IV (see '68) for $1.00, they
were pretty sure, in perfect order. At another garage sale
Adella bought a political game which we finally discovered
was WHITE HOUSE - which I have.
Date to go there 11/5.
Call from Claude earlier. Would like to get together today, had the last
Saturday of his vacation. Told him that I'd like to, but have another date.
Told him I was going to Salem.

words on each face - many suggestive - that are thrown and formed into sentences, crossword fashions; SWITCHBOARD, which is the same as 36 FITS; GAMBLING GOLF - by one of the California companies. (don't remember which and didn't get any details)
After meeting with Mike met Gini Scott. The only manufacturer that
she is seeing on this trip is Invicta and she is showing things that
she already has on hand. I told her that the decisions are made
in England and of Jerry D'Arcey's delay in getting things back
from them.
She is very busy with a new, non-game, job and is not doing
much on new games.
She has rcd. a lot of packages that she hasn't opened before
