SEPTEMBER 1977 * FRIDAY 16
259TH DAY * 106 DAYS TO COME
After lunch here (because of rain) I went with Claude and Anne
to Thrift Shop in Children's Village in Dobb's Ferry. Bought
a homemade but quite attractive :Turntable" - for $1.50;
AD-LIB unused - for $1.50 (discovered that I have it);
a book TABLESPORTS - 10¢ (without a cover); "Template" with "word"
symbols - 10¢; 4 sets of 5 holders for recipes - 15¢ each
(originally bought for BB but she decided not to use them - they
may be used for mounting informational material in games).
Before we went out Claude and I played two games of LOA,
splitting. Then I showed him TWISTS 'N' TURNS.
When we returned had supper with Claude buying a pizza.
Claude showed me a variation of his WATCH. A player can
move, as well as the regular orthogonal move, to any tile of the
same color; so being forced to move to tile of the same
'color as that on which the opponent's PC. is on, is a loss. Played
well. Then, at Claude's suggestion, played 4-hand ACQUIRE
and I really enjoyed it. I lost thru overconfidence, ending the
game before building the chain I controlled to 41 hotels.
This was the first time they played with buying 3 blocks of
stock on a turn.
Claude showed me ad in May '77 SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN for "Fairchild Game Console." (Filed in '77 Misc.)
During day rcd. call from Phil Orbanes. He and Anna will
be here on 9/25, from 1 to 5. We'll eat first and then play
THE RIGHT WORD.
