Rcd. a thank you letter from Lou Zocchi. He has been getting a lot of orders for ALIEN SPACE because of my review. HE asked if I had seen a review of PATTON he wrote for "World War Enthusiast." (NO.)
Rvd. the 2 CLUE pcs. from Robert Herzog. Also a note saying "Sid - Here they are. Thanks very much for your [help?] to me. Will call you if I have anything more." (Discarded.)
Rcd. 6 copies of an ANTI-MONOPOLY glossy. And a note saying that the other material follows.
To S.P.I. Spoke to Jim Dunnigan. He had the results of the questionnaire on non-war games. ACQUIRE was number five after CHESS, GO, and two others. He had the results in rough form; he'll give me a copy when they are typed up.
Next year he is going to create six non-war games himself and put them out in a format similar, but of different size, to the war games. If they sell well he'll start thinking seriously of putting out GAMES Magazine.
Duplicated the manuscript of TRIAD - A UNIQUE SERIES OF CARD GAMES DESIGNED BY JOHN JACKSON.
Spoke to Howie Barasch. No correspondence for me. He has been seeing reviews of PATTON - all good - in various magazines. They are now in David Isby's control, and he'll be away for the summer. If Howie notices anymore he'll put them aside for me.
To Gamut of Games. John Wexo there talking with John Phil Orbanes.
He had two games that Gamut will be putting out. I looked
at one of them - THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT. Each player has a
paper doll - nude - and clothes to put on it. He also has a set
of "devil cards" that either direct the owner to take off an
article of clothing, or directs the opponent to take off, or
says nothing happens. Each player lays out his devil cards in any
arrangement secretly. There is also a set of cards, the bulk
of which have colored spots matching the colors of the players
cards. There are single spot cards and a player needs two of
there of the same color to take a devil card from that player. A
double spot card is used by itself. (Rough idea.) Not too good
as a game I am afraid. Also the rules were very long. Wexo asked
me and I gave him some hints in trimming them. His other game,
which I did not see, is THE SENSUOUS GAME.
I mentioned Dallas Mayr in connection with the manuscript TRIAD---. Wexo had given Mayr a list of people to contact, with my name high on the list.
I asked, and as well as WOMAN & MAN and SOCIETY TODAY he did a game called FUTURE which was mentioned in TIME (see 1/21). He will get a copy of it.
Gave Phil my rules for WORDS X THREE, FINANCIER, OIL STRIKE!, SPY, THE GREAT RACES, and PAYOFF. Pointed out the changes I made in the last two and he liked them. Wexo looked at the
