7/7 JULY 1974 - MONDAY 8 189TH DAY - 176 DAYS TO COME

Called Felicia. She had a long talk with Bob Johnson. Someone new is now in charge of the game program at Hallmark. Bob is a little nervous about his own career, by he thinks that the new man is good. He can't say at all what direction the game program will take. The new items that Felicia told BB about were two puzzles that Springbok is putting out - not games.

Jim Goldsberry and Burt Huber have both moved to different parts of Hallmark. The new head will either come to New York or have Felicia come there to discuss the game program. He doesn't want to talk to inventors. (I said that I couldn't care less.)

Kathy Brooks wrote that they are returning SKYSCRAPERS. It costs out high and there is something like it on the market - TORUS. Told Felicia that I had told both Keith Tuggle and Kathy about it.

No word from Aladdin other than that they rcd. the package with FOREIGN INTRIGUE, TOTALLY, and SPACE.

Called Phil Orbanes. Told him that I am working on the "six-pac" games to get them as perfect as possible. He like my additions to THE GREAT RACES. Getting the rules to him by next week is o.k.

I asked him to save a copy of G&P #25, since mine still didn't come. If he is able to locate it next week when he straightens up next wee with his new secretary, he will keep it. Actually he intends to put them all in binders.

Called Dallas Mayr of "Scott Meredith Litery Agency" concerning TRIAD - A UNIQUE SERIES OF CARD GAMES DESIGNED BY JOHN JACKSON. I asked why they sent it to me, and he said they were inter- ested in S.P.I. publishing the manuscript. I told him that all things for S.P.I. are developed in house; also they are only interested in war games. He asked me to return the manuscript as soon as possible and I said I'd drop it off when I am in the neighborhood.

Told him that I had rcd. a letter from William T. Silent and apologized for not answering. Mayr said that the manuscript for A WINNER'S GUIDE TO BOARD GAMES was complete, and ready to be published. I said that I'd be glad to review it in my column, and also "TRIAD" if it comes out. He'll send me review copies.

He said that he had heard about me from John Wexo.

Call from Mr. Wolf of "J.A. Ewing & McDonald, Inc." (See 7/3.) He said I had an international reputation. A client in South Africa is interested in the economic training games. Told him about EXECUTIVE DECISION (saying it was mine) and BUSINESS MANAGEMENT STRATEGY (which he knew about). Suggested that he
