In the "American Express" Magazine saw an ad for LANGA FUN CARD GAME [bracket drawn] Langa Games Inc. [bracket drawn] 701 U.S. Highway 20 [bracket drawn] Parkersburg, Iowa 50665 The picture showed cards with foreign phrases and the phonetic also given.
To "Gamut of Games." Phil Orbanes told me that Van Zedwitz
had been ready to sell out to Reiss when they started chisling
on the agreed price. He got mad and they are will keep
"Gamut" going.
Phil and I went over the p&p games and came up with the following for the "six-pack." The price will be $7, but the new reps have connections in places like Korvettes so it will undoubtedly be discounted. The size will have to be 5"x 6 1/4" so that six can be printed on one sheet.
THE GREAT RACES. I'll check the rules which Phil once wrote.
WORDS X THREE. Our new name for HEXOWORD.
SPY. Our new name for INVESTIGATION. I'll try to trim the rules.
FINANCIER. Our new name for WINDFALL, which was originally SPECULATE.
OIL STRIKE! Our new name for WILDCAT, which was originally DRILL FOR OIL.
PAYOFF. Phil will take care of this one.
Phil wants everything ready by the end of middle of July.
Phil called Al Zygier and he came over and we discussed the art work for the "six-pack."
I asked Phil about the "International Series Games" - KONANE, YUCATAN, TABLUT, TA KAI. Reiss will be handling these permanently, even tho the "Gamut of Games" name will stay for at least this year. Phil will get 24 of each and give me review copies.
I asked about TAKAI. This is something that Djoli Kansil worked out from some game. (Which?)
Phil said that he's sure that I can pick up the D.D.I. games - 1776, J.Q., PONENTS, XAVIERA'S GAME, COMPATIBILITY, etc. at Reiss. He thinks that they may ask me to submit games, since Phil won't be.
I asked about the 5 Hoi Polloi games - CHINESECHEK, etc. Phil is afraid that they probably will just sell out what they have in stock. They are mismanaging things badly - such as selling out a large stock of paper just before the price jumped.
Phil got a call from a "Carl" and I asked if it was Carl Eisenberg. Yes; Carl has some ideas - which Phil didn't tell me anything about. I mentioned seeing NINE OF SWORDS at "Game Capers." Phil also saw it. He thinks we should get royalties, if it sells - which it hasn't yet.
I asked how the "Command Series" Games were doing. They expect to have 3000 subscribers by the end of summer - which they consider good. SARATOGA 1777 and INVASION: SICILY have been sent out, but Phil doesn't have me on the mailing list. He'll add me.
I asked whether I-Q was still being continued, now that Phil has such a good future at "Gamut of Games." He definitely thinks
