JUNE 1974 - MONDAY 10
161ST DAY - 204 DAYS TO COME
Gave Claude a copy of CARTEL for his birthday.
He told me a little more about his talk with Wexler
(see 6/7). When Claude said that he had two games
with Hallmark, Wexler's opinion of Claude went up.
Claude is trying to do something with WATCH, with
TRAP DOOR (which I said needs more excitement), and
with SAMMY THE SWINGING DRAGON.
Rcd. CHALLENGE FOOTBALL and CHALLENGE GOLF, c[o]urtesy of
KEVIN TUGGLE Keith Tuggle.
Clause was interested in CONNECT FOUR and we played once.
(cont. from 6/11) [6/12]
use the three pictures.
Saw Dave Isby for a moment. He said that the copier has
just been fixed and he'll send me a repro of
ESCAPE FROM COLDITZ (Parker of England).
From Sal got 4 copies of S&T #44. The game is TANK!
Made 6 copies of my column. Also in the mag. is an ad for
FRIGATE - which Sal says is not ready yet.
While at Felicia's copied the layout of the dice and
also the board for HIGH RISE. (Added it to letter rcd. 6/3.)
Before going to S.P.I. stopped at S.R.I. and spoke to Bob Gellman.
He gave me a stamped envelope to send him the address
to send games to G&P.
He expects sales of PATTON to be about 20% above
last year, and MACARTHUR to be about the same. He just
got a big order from Eaton's in Canada. He also got
a bum check from Don Lowry.
He'll probably want me to work out a game using the cards
from HOLIDAY. He thinks it is one of the greatest games,
but he can't sell it. (Later I did a little thinking
and I may be able to keep most of the original game
by allowing players in turn to choose their destination.)
Felicia had told me about some people from Germany that
Bob sent to her. They had a GAME based on con-
quering the world, with a MONOPOLY - like play, which
she wasn't interested in. Meant to talk to Bob about
it, but forgot.
To Fabio Coen. Played the "Art Book" games with him and
he took notes. MONDRIAN - he liked the new version for 2
with the neutral color. ARP - decided to simplify the rules
by limiting a player to starting at the last line and
moving to the end of a new line in just one direction.
DELAUNEY - played thru 2 sections and I was way ahead.
