MAY 1974 - THURSDAY 23
ASCENSION DAY - 143RD DAY - 222 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. another letter from I.R.S. explaining the change in my
1973 taxes. I'll have to contact Leonard Willett about it.

Tom Atwater called and then came over for about 2 hours,
including lunch. Showed him:
TAKE FIVE. Liked the idea. I'll change the name and make
a new board that will show the moves better.
TANGLED WEB. It would be better if I could come up with some-
thing using sliding, but not with the interlocking. However "do-
it-yourself" items are being sold in Germany and this might be
sold broken down there.
EVEN WORSE. Another client has a puzzle called FARMER'S FENCE
which consists of pcs. with different configurations of holes.
they can be piled so that all the holes are closed, or so
that all the holes are open. (Rough idea.) We agreed that it
was better that he didn't handle EVEN WORSE.
THE WORM TURNS. He liked. I'll have to write the rules.
POTENTIAL. He liked. I'll have to rewrite the rules and simplify
the scoring. Later thought of the following: A player wins im-
mediately by being first and reaching 100. Otherwise the
partners score their full score. After a set number of rounds
high score wins. I'll need a new model.
IMPULSE. Tom liked it a lot. I'll get my name off of the rules
and the box. It is the type for Germany.
WHAT'S IT WORTH TO YOU? Showed it to Tom but admitted that
Anatole Holt's HAGGLE was similar, very good, and didn't move.
SPACE STIX. He liked.
TOGETHERNESS. Too similar in appearance and play to BLOCK-OFF.
Also Germany has a lot of color domino games.
TRANSFORMATION. He was going to take a copy, but forgot.
Some discussions: Parker will be coming out next year with an
adult line, MASTERMIND being the nucleus.
Bill Dohrman is still the head of marketing & development but
Mike McCarthy is the one who will be looking at games. The new
treasurer at Parker is Mike Morse.
In connection with Tom's distrust of Reiss I told him about
my good experience with the p&p royalties. Also told him that
their development is being done in house.
He asked about Pressman and I told him about the problem
with DOUBLE DECKER and CUBE FUSION.
The German "translation" that I may be assigned is "Otto Maier
Verlag Ravensburg" - "Ravensburger Spiele" for Hallmark's use.
Didn't get any details.
Tom will eventually want the German catalogs (see 3/6) back.
Tom feels that there is a market for a business game - preferably
one based on "Go-go cartels." He will send me the name of
a book that will give me ideas for such a GAME.
Discussed my relationship with Felicia and how it wouldn't be fair
to her for companies to be considering things by me from her and
from Tom at the same time. Once something is definitely accepted I
