Rcd. from R.G.I. a repro [reproduction] of a letter from Dan Lowry mentioning PATTON, PANZERFAUST, and BASEBALL STRATEGY. Also a carbon of Bob Gellman's reply mentioning PATTON and VINCE LOMBARDI'S GAME.
Rcd. an ad from "United - Carr Divisions of TRW Inc." for "fasteners for toys." (Discarded.)
Rcd. a letter from Graeme Levin. Mentioned SLEUTH, G&P, AGOG, POUNCE, SPECTRA, 3UP, AMBUSH, CABBIE, STOCKBROKER, GAMES WITH PAPER AND PENCIL, ESCAPE FROM COLDITZ.

Playing around with a new layout for

Showed Martin the picture I have of Springbok's PENTOMINOES. Showed him my THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS and FITTING & PROPER for the format. Actually he has a copy of SWEEP which Philpott sent to him. (He would have brought it to me but he thought I had it.)
He did think that my two puzzle - games were unique.
Showed him PATTON and HOLIDAY. (Also showed all 4 to Charlotte.)
He noticed Lech Pijanowski's DUODOMINO. Someone has sent him a translation and analysis of it. It comes out the same as NITTY GRITTY.
He looked thru all my books He looked thru all my books and I kept urging him to borrow any he was interested in. He found a number of things in PIONERSKAJA IGROTEKA and when one of these, a key that can only fit in one position on a nest of pegs, needed copying he agreed to take it. He wanted to mail it right back but I asked him to please hold it until we get together - I don't want to take the chance of losing it in the mail.
He also copied the name, in Russian, of PROBLEMS - BRAINBUSTERS - DRAWINGS. A friend might be interested in obtaining a copy from Russia (he has connections) and selling Dover on a translation.
Martin Bernstein suggested two books I might be interested in: THEORY OF GAMBLING & STATISTICAL LOGIC by David Bernstein (which has a section on actual games) and MATHEMATICAL PUZZLES (FOR BEGINNERS AND ENTHUSIASTS) by Geoffrey Mott-Smith. (Later discovered that I had it.)
