22 MONDAY * OCTOBER 1973
VETERANS' DAY * 295TH DAY * 70 DAYS TO COME
Prepared two lists of 80 games for S & T feedback. To those
I listed before I added the following: STARLORD, CONFRONTATION,
THE LIB GAME, CONVENTION, NEBULA 19, FOLLOW THE ARROW, SCARNE DICE,
EXTINCTION, LENSMAN. For lack of room dropped the following: RECKON,
THE VERBAL GAME, CHAOS, 3 UP, AVALANCHE, COUPLES, CARD CUBES, TIC TAC TOWER,
POINT OF LAW.
Wrote a letter to Carol Peterson (see 10/5). Sent her my ideas for a
luck-free version of ACQUIRE.

place around and didn't have any rules. I'll come back in a few weeks.
On Chambers St. bought 3 back number SCIENTIFIC AMERICANS.
5/73, among other things, had a problem on "closed arrow tours" which he got
from JOURNAL OF RECREATIONAL MATHEMATICS, some PENTOMINOS problems,
reader comments on RACE TRACK, SIM, and CHOMP.
5/73 also had an article on paradoxes and confirming hypotheses.
7/73 had paradoxes concerning free will.
8/73 had a self-test for clairvoyance by Dr. Matrix.
At the same store saw 4 used copies of AGOG.
At Job Lot bought POWER PLAY (The Chess of the Hockey Games) for $1.50.
Saw MIRROR MANIA for $.95 but didn't but it.
Dale had an ad folder from Marlboro Book Stores listing the following: -
LANGUAGE ON VACATION ($1.00), TOYS by P. Murray ($.59) (bought this last year),
THE LAS VEGAS EXPERTS GUIDE TO CRAPS, BLACKJACK, CARD GAMES ($1.00).
(cont. from 10/24) [10/31]
some time towards the end of the year on the rules for
the new batch of p & p games. But Hoi Polloi is so busy
filling orders that they're not even thinking of new product.
Gave Phil a copy of S & T #40. He gave me a repro of the
article from THE CAPITALIST REPORTER. Also a copy of Roger
Verhulst's CHICAGO TRIBUNE article on CARTEL.
Looked at S & T #40.
