20 SATURDAY * OCTOBER 1973
293RD DAY * 72 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. THE GENERAL (Sep.-Oct. '73). Has rules and PCs. for a
MIDWAY variant called LEYTE GULF. Articles on FRANCE, 1940,
ORIGINS OF WWII (three variants), 1914 (a little revision), and
PANZERBLITZ.

At a bazaar bought a gadget called FIDDLE TREE, which I made [may?]
be able to use for some game ideas. ($1.00). Also a set of magnetic
CHECKERS (10¢).
Played
Thinking of a possible idea for speeding up POP-SHAPE-AND SHATTER.
When a player has the "block-buster" and makes a throw that
would get it, instead of losing his turn he can take any
PC. he wishes.
Played with Al Richter u, Brian, and Laura. Then with Al and Brian.
Then Al and me. None lasted too long and 2-hand was too
short. But I was very lucky in getting the color I needed to
finish up. Showed them some of the puzzles and I came up
with another solution for yellow-orange-blue.

(Cont. from 10/22) [10/31]

1944, HANNIBAL, and STARLORD.
Also mentioned are revised rules for MIDGARD III.

Called Claude and told him about ECLIPSE. He can cut the
number of overlays by putting two circle[s] on a single sheet.
He'll work on it.
He has an idea for a game in DIABOLIQUE. The 2 players divide
the numbers. Take turns placing one on the board. Can only
place a tile that completes a row if it makes the row add
up to the chosen key number. If can't play, draw tiles from
opponent until can. (I didn't like this feature at all.)
