9 TUESDAY * OCTOBER 1973
282ND DAY * 83 DAYS TO COME

Finished the S & T column with COOKS TOURS, WHODUNIT,
NETRESULTS, GREATSHAPES, SNOWCRYSTALS, STAC-TAC-TOE,
and EL GAME.
Didn't include the following games. FAIR SHAKE and BROKEN ENGLISH
because I didn't hear from American Greetings. POLISH DOMINOES
because I didn't hear from Andrews Games. MR. WHO? because
it was such a lousy game. MANHUNT because it really
wasn't adult. OUTDOOR SURVIVAL - I'll do a big one on this.
KGB because I didn't hear from Earl Doherty.
BB typed the column in the evening - 18 typewritten pages.

Felicia called. Jack Barry (spelling?) who is in charge of sales
for Owens-Illinois' toy division (I believe) will be in tomorrow
afternoon to look at 3D BOXES. Told Felicia I'd be there about
3:30. Also that I'd bring OVER 'N OVER.
Ruth Shaller is in town, but very busy. She said that she sent me
a copy of the HOLIDAY writeup in THE CANADIAN RECORD (her
home town newspaper in Texas).
Felicia had a meeting with Ennio Racinelli, D.D.I. Among other
things, he said that a meeting he had with Bob Reiss and
others last Friday he saw a lot of my games. Felicia didn't
know what he was talking about until he mentioned "Gamut of
Games", and she was annoyed. I told her that I had said that
I was working with "Gamut of Games". Ennio said that one
of my games was popular, but she couldn't remember the
name. I mentioned THE WORM TURNS, TOGETHERNESS,
EVEN WORSE, and finally GROOVE which she said might be
the one.

Called Nancy Allen (see 10/5) and changed date to 10/16 at 3:00.

Called Phil Orbanes and he called back. (Took notes but lost
them tomorrow.) Told him of Felicia's call. He was at the
meeting last Friday. THE WORM TURNS - don't think they
can produce a 45[degree] cut - dead. TANGLEWORD - looks too much
like the plastic puzzle - dead. TOGETHERNESS - was popular -
answer soon. SKYSCRAPERS, altho Mag-Nif's TORUS is
not doing well it will be considered in about six months.
EVEN WORSE and GROOVE will also be considered then. The
p & p games were not discussed on Friday, but another
batch will definitely be put out.
D.D.I will be taken over by National Paragon, but will keep
their present reps (like Herb Roth) and Reiss Associates
will cooperate with them. "Gamut of Games" will be
submitting games to D.D.I. I said that presents a problem
because of Felicia's prior contact with D.D.I. We'll get
together next Tuesday and discuss this as well as the directions
to take with Hoi Polloi. etc.

Tried to call Peter (see 10/4) to tell him I couldn't play the
