Jack Barry (spelling?) came about 5:30. He looked at 3D BOXES.
He liked the general idea but <s>not</s> thought that the "force" was
difficult to see. He also thought that the pcs. should be of
at least two colors to take advantage of the potential. He
didn't like the name at all and said that he'd probably think of
one tomorrow. Felicia tried to push him by saying she wants to show
it to M.B. He quietly told her that she shouldn't say things like that.
He wants someone else to look at it and will come in a few weeks -
Felicia said she'd hold it. tried to get a more definite idea on the
timing so that I could get the differently colored pcs. ready, and
possibly some changes in the rules. Jack didn't seem to think it was too
important.
Felicia showed him a thing done by the fellow who did the
big electric GAME (which I saw there but don't know much about
it). This is called MINEFIELD. A soldier is moved across an
area trying to avoid sounding a buzzer. The way it is done is by
having metal strips bent away from a contact point. The base of the
soldier has a magnet that pulls the strip into contact when it passes
over. one problem, the "mines" are in one position and it's not hard
to memorize their location. Jack said that he personally doesn't like
war toys, but they sell. He wondered if this thing could have a
different theme. I suggested a crime caper which he liked. Then he
thought of a spy theme. The discussion just seemed to peter out
without any conclusion.
Jack said that what they are looking for is something other than
regular board games. Something electronic that is tied into science
would be great.
Jack said that 3M had some objections about their using the name
SUPER SLEUTH (after Felicia said that SLEUTH was mine) but, since they are
mutual customers it will be settled amicably. I asked about a review
copy. He'll get me one eventually but right now they can't keep up
